Hi,

With max cap of 75000 points (DCB) and 150000 points (Infinia) allowed to be redeemed in a month now, should we stop accumulating too many points and keep redeeming a regular intervals. I might sound pessimistic but as far as i can think only devaluation left for DCB and Infinia now is actual devaluation of the value of points itself. So instead of 1 point = 1 Rs. or 1 Vistara or Krisflyer I fear someday this would get reduced to 0.75 or any other number lower than 1. And since generally they give 1-2 month notice we wouldn’t be able to use the points if we have lakhs of points accumulated. Honestly otherwise I am unable to think of any other reason to cap points which can be redeemed in a month, I understand earn caps but redemption caps is normally not done.

I have been using DCB for 7 years now and never bothered about how many points I have accumulated and just used them for big air ticket booking once in a year or so. But now I am thinking for DCB holder it is risky to accumulate beyond say 150k or 300k for Infinia (2 months redemption)? Basic assumption being one wouldn’t get more than 1-2 months notice in case of any devaluation.

Just to be clear I am not saying this is going to be happen but just thinking ahead and preparing if there is further devaluation of DCB/Infinia.

Any thoughts?

completely agree.
i could think only of flight bookings on smartbuy....any other methods to redeem dcb points as close to 1:1 rate as possible? i am avoiding vistara because vistara flights are anyways costlier than indigo and others.

I have a burning question. If they are doing all these devaluations, then is there another super-premium card above Infinia at the end of it all ?

Or are those rumours baseless, because they have been around for more than a year and nothing has been introduced so far ?

If one has 5L points and when the value of point gets reduced to ₹0.50 during the next devaluation, there won't be enough time to redeem all the points for the value of ₹1 It is just like Warren Buffett says don't put all your eggs in single basket. Use different cards..
