HDFC Smartbuy voucher activation time

How much time does it take to activate a voucher bought from HDFC smartbuy, from the time of purchase?

Say, I am shopping in Shopper's Stop and my total bill comes out to be ₹2957/-. To maximize savings/reward points, I would probably buy a Shopper's Stop voucher from SmartBuy worth ₹2500/- and use my credit card to pay the rest ₹457/-. This should work in practice, but has anyone actually tried this? I mean, buy the voucher from SmartBuy(at the billing counter) and instantly redeem it.

P.S.: I haven't bought a voucher from SmartBuy before

Its instant unless some system issues.

Sometimes voucher delivery in itself may not be instant though and take 24-48 hours.
