So, this just happened! Against all the odds American Express decided to shower their blessings!! It’s been while since I was in search of my first AmEx card and in the end it reached its destination. I guess, I got lucky second time! When the process for new application resumed after RBI lifted ban, I had applied on first day for MRCC card which was straightaway declined and I had lost hopes of getting any AmEx card this year. But out of the blues, received call from Mumbai AmEx relationship manager that I can get AmEx Platinum Travel card which was shocker since my application was already declined two months ago. I shared the same with AmEx team and manager confirmed that it might be because I applied for base variant for which demand was high (his words) and I can directly apply for Platinum Travel. I was a bit skeptical knowing the strict criteria of AmEx internal policy of approving application. But, manager cleared those doubts and confirmed that even the applicants with CIBIL score of 710 and default payment had been issued AmEx cards recently. I thought why not, lets just give it another try and applied via link shared by manager on November 10.
After submitting application, I got surprised because, the application went through without any hiccups and I could see the message, “Your application is approved and offering so and so credit limit, proceed for vKYC.” And in next 10 minutes vKYC was done smoothly!
There were no documents required and the application process concluded. On Nov 12, I received mail, that my application is approved, and my card will be delivered in 3-7 working days. On Nov 14, got another mail that a new AmEx credit card is produced and will be delivered by Nov 19.
Another surprise was when the card got delivered on Nov 16 making it the fastest delivery for any of my cards to date! Now, all set for booking the first flight next month!
