Help me maximize the redemption of 180K reward points from my American Express Platinum Travel card

Hi expert friends,

I have accumulated 180,000 American Express Platinum travel card rewards points and am looking for advice on the best way to redeem them. I'm hoping to get the most value out of these points, whether through travel, merchandise, gift cards, Tanishq voucher or other options.

A few specifics:

• I’m open to travel, but I’m especially interested in getting the best possible value for things like flights, hotel stays, or upgrades.
• If there is Tanishq voucher available (most interested in).
• If there are ways to maximize points for experiences or unique rewards, I’d love to hear about that as well.
• I’m also considering transferring points to partner programs—has anyone done this successfully with these kinds of points?

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or strategies you’ve used in the past!

Amex points = marriot

For amex you can get 1:1 with Marriot bonvoy. You can transfer as many as points. There is no limit
Marriot point can give value between 0.6 to 1.8₹ while booking.

For voucher you will get lesser value about 0.4₹

AmEx works best with Marriott transfers, you get 1 MR point = 1 Marriott point. The point value is dynamic though so depending on the property, the value could differ so check the property rates and points requirement before making the transfer.

Another option is to buy Taj vouchers, these are slightly less in value than Marriott but everyone knows the Taj's hospitality so it's bound to get you a great experience.

You can also transfer them to airlines, this process involves going through some hoops, signing up for different airline partners and then moving points along but before you do all of that, you would need to check how many points are required for your destination and from where, it generally works best for international routes and business class. I think someone wrote a detailed thread on that here.

Some more points like you can redeem them for Gold and Amazon vouchers but the value just keeps going down from there.

Or if you need straight cash, you can also buy some vouchers and sell them.

Try visa free countries like Vietnam Thailand Malaysia or you can try Burma Singapore Bali. Or you can also travel Dubai Qatar abudabi if you are not interested to travel abroad. You can try traveliing in bharath you can trf to marriot points are dynamic chg some are expensive on points some are good ones. Explore. Thailand points for 3 days 2 adults start from 50k to 150kpoints a stay ie 28th may to 31st may 2025. The less I saw was le meridien suvarnabhumi golf resort and spa 49k all this are inclusive of stay but may come without complimentary breakfast.. you can check. Likewise Vietnam starts 34k to 110k points a stay for same dates vietname you have 3 entries check cities where you want to stay and plan..

I use my Amex points to transfer to Marriott but that's coz I can get value in more ways than just points. I have lifetime platinum status with Marriott which gives me free breakfast, Guaranteed 4PM checkout & lounge (I generally also get welcome amenities, frequent suite upgrades etc)

This makes Marriott my first choice unless the difference is huge.

I am not writing this to brag but to remind that the same hotels may mean different value to different people with their hotel program level etc.
