While global giants like Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Diners Club dominate the international payments landscape, many countries have developed their own domestic card networks to enhance financial sovereignty, reduce transaction costs, and promote local economic growth. These national schemes often coexist with international networks, sometimes co-badged on the same card, to ensure both local and global acceptance.
1) India's RuPay Card -

2) China Unionpay Card (CUB) or also called UnionPay International (UPI) - Don’t get confused by the name—China’s UPI and India’s UPI are completely different -

4) Indonesia GPN Card or locally called - Gerbang Pembayaran Nasional (GPN) means National Payment Gateway -
5) Vietnam "NAPAS card" -
Mastercard and NAPAS officially announce the launch of Vietnam’s first co-badged card across six banks (Domestic transactions will be on the Napas network and international transactions will be on the Mastercard network) -
6) Bangladesh "TakaPay Card" -
7) Pakistan - PayPak Card -

SCT is a private company and in May 2025, the Nepal government launched the second domestic card – NepalPay Card.

BC Card & Domestic Network -
- BC Card is a domestic-only network that links many smaller banks and credit unions.
