How I Successfully Converted My HDFC Millennia Credit Card to Lifetime Free

I started following a community in October 2024 to learn how people were successfully converting their HDFC Millennia credit cards to lifetime free and optimizing their spending to maximize rewards points. Inspired by the stories shared, I decided to give it a try.

I first reached out to HDFC customer service to request the conversion of my Millennia card to lifetime free, but my request was declined. Undeterred, I escalated the matter to the grievance redressal credit card team, but once again, my request was denied.

Soon, I learned that HDFC was running a year-end offer where new customers were getting their cards converted to lifetime free. I decided to take a stronger approach and wrote an assertive email to the Principal Nodal Officer, highlighting the discrimination between existing and new customers.

Finally, my persistence paid off! I received an email from the Principal Nodal Officer, and my Millennia credit card was successfully converted to lifetime free. I don’t have any other relationship with HDFC Bank except for the Millennia credit card, which is now lifetime free.

A huge thank you to this community for providing the insights and encouragement that made this journey possible!

damn I have also written and they quoted " We understand that you wish to avail your credit card account as life time free card. We reviewed your request in line with bank's internal policies and regret to accede to your request of converting your card as Lifetime free card at this point of time. We seek your earnest understanding in this regard."
"
We have reviewed your request for Lifetime Free Card appropriately and regret to inform you that we are unable to accede to your request now. We regret the inconvenience caused in this regard.

Note: We wish to inform you that the Lifetime Free Credit Card Offer is a limited time offer and is not applicable to existing First Year free or priced customers"

Congratulations!

I'm also fighting a similar battle. I've emailed the customer service regarding the unfair treatment of existing customers. They're offering LTF cards to new customers while giving existing customers FYFcards. This biased behavior is Stepmotherly attitude.

My request was initially rejected by the customer service, so I escalated the issue to the escalation desk. After being rejected again, I've now escalated the matter to the grievance redressal team. They've promised to respond by January 17th.
Let's see what happens next - will I get rejected again or will I succeed?🤣

Dm me sir email part

Guess will have to go a similar route as yours OP.
I quoted the same logic, apart from the fact that I've also applied for another of their own paid cards, and thus would like the waiver to be paid off.
They did point out that I got this card as First year free though, and I've had my spends beyond the waiver limit, this I've never really paid them any money wo far and they're salty ?
Maybe thats a filter in them deterministic whom to offer LTF and whom to filter out, at least at first level.
