How many bank accounts do you have and for what purposes?

raghavx

TF Select
I hold following bank accounts

  1. ICICI Bank (Savings) - For salary crediting and investments
  2. IDFC First Bank (Savings) - for savings purposes, it gives good rate of interest.
  3. DBS - Idk why I am still holding this.
  4. Paytm Payments Bank - Had opened it long back, not sure why I am holding this too.
  5. Fi.money - For day to day transactions as my primary savings account would get cluttered with few hundred rupees transactions.
  6. Jupiter - Had opened alongside with Fi, thinking to close this.

SBI - GEN Savings (Main account) + 2 Tiny accounts opened by my High School
Kotak 811 - UPI
ICICI - Campus Power/ Savings
HDFC - Zero MAB/Zero charges account
Canara Bank - Savings
Jana SFB - Zero balance account
Utkarsh SFB - Savings
UCO Bank - Zero balance account
BoB - BRO (Opened last year)
Slice SFB - For best savings interest rates
Post office savings account - opened earlier while it has better interest rates, now it's equal to banks interest rates

A good move. I was also thinking to do same.
After DC charges for IDFC I blocked dc to avoid charges and now will close account.

My secondary acc is idfc and I have SBI as well so will use sbi as secondary

Thinking to do this but idfc is more better than sbi for upi TXN so that makes me to wait
Yes. There are some issues with SBI related to transactional messages, Even I am deciding to move upi out of SBI and opt a pvt bank account for UPI for seamless services overall , I have a kotak 811 , but random freeze stories is somehow not letting to use it Fully may be convert that to normal savings or go for any other pvt bank account.I already have hdfc as main and primary account, Icici is a big avoid for me.

HSBC: Salary account Debit card 5% cashback on all debit card spends both online and offline (Above 1000rs)
Kotak811: Infinity Metal card: 5% cashback on all debit card spends both online and offline (Above 20 rs)

ICICI: Privilege account. Only for UPI if RuPay Credit card not accepted.
IDFC First: Select account. Cash withdrawal.

SBI, BOB, PNB, IOB, UBI, Canara, BOI, CBI, Indian, UCO, TMB, JANA SFB: Only for RuPay SELECT Debit card Benefits.

Why, Had bad experience?
My Experience with ICICI is one of the most pathetic one even worse than a PSU bank. I took a Home Loan with the bank and they asked me to open a 50k minimum balance account for no reason , I denied to it and opened a salary account instead. When ever I went to negotiate for Home loan interest they always gave me the reason that you don't have any other relationships like Demat trading account , Policies or even MF's so we cannot consider the ROI reduction at this moment as you are not giving any additional business to us , back of the mind i was telling that the Home loan is the biggest business that any customer can give you.

After 3 4 regressive follow ups , their attitude still did not change to which I decided to move out my home loan from PVT to Govt bank which I eventually did. The person at the bank the bank told me if i transfer HL it would cost me 1L which was a biggest lie. Total expenses were 30k I was ready to bare it < I just don't want such type of arrogance and I just want to move out . It doesn't take much time to move out of banks in cases of unpleasant experiences . Make sure you don't link bank account everywhere unless you have a decent to good experience.

The point here is their attitude towards customers is pathetic as per my experience with 4 branches near my vicinity , they will not agree to what is mentioned even on their official websites. They are only interested in wealthy customers , they see your dress or attire and judge you.

SBI , BOB near me provides much better service than ICICI

Do you think PSU can provide better services in terms of UPI and daily account usage ? or I should switch to a pvt bank
I already have HDFC as an account for Salary , Investment and its 13yrs old and I am very much satisfied with overall banking exp.
Other is SBI -> which I have started to use for UPI lately .
Kotak 811 -> Just backup UPI account., due to random freeze issues.
BOB - I will close it once a year is completed.

My goal is to just keep 2 accounts , not interested in chasing complicated cashback and offers which are been provided by banks in some or the other way.

For UPI payments, I suggest you go with AU digital savings a/c or slice savings a/c where both are zero balance and features are better compared to your accounts listed above.

When I wanted to open savings they told I need to open a demat or buy ulip apart from saving acc with 10k min balance which was the clause when I went 2 years back.

I decided not to open cos of this as they want only business n not serve and then went to IDFC n opened a new acc

This will be a full fledge account apart from just UPI , like I will transfer around 50k in this account every month and all CC bills , UPI transactions , Petrol etc , will be paid from this account , Hence I was looking an account with good overall service and prompt transactional messages and I want to avoid small fin and digital banks(Just my personal preference).

Yes ..better banking service available . as Salaried emp we should not make things complicated. Now I am thinking they even stopped ) balance privilage account on existing ICICI credit card limit. Mine is 6L consolidated having 2 icici CC.

Wonderful thought process, for few minutes, it seems am reading something my type... Simple easy to go setup...
I would suggest keep BOB/SBI for the usage, as you mentioned in above post ☝️

You will get all the features of the full fledged account and prompt transactional messages better than the PSU banks and big private banks. Have been using AU bank since last 2 years, never faced an issue. Moreover, AU is not a SFB anymore. It received the universal banking license from RBI and in the process of conversion. Check it out.

Yes .. Much more important things in life , rather than cashback and offers... Better to invest time in such a way that can yield 5x , 10 x return than what cashback and offers can give and avoid complications in life.. Just my personal preference .. everyone has their way of thinking.
