Elite benefits as per t&c
As per the t&c, platinum and above are eligible to free breakfast & Lounge access at most Marriott brands (most because some brands like Ritz etc are excluded) if they book directly.

Gold status in Marriott is not eligible for free breakfast but most will agree to when requested.

Practically
Practically most Marriotts in India provide elite benefits to people even if they book through OTAs, but it's not required by terms

Most of my stays are at Marriott brand hotels so can't comment about other hotel chains.

Technically yes, but most Marriotts in India honour elite status even when booked through OTAs like MMT etc (though they are not required to), but you will definitely not get points and Elite Night credit on OTA bookings
