As I said in the question, my company has a tie up with HDFC and i already have a savings acc in HDFC. Whats the easiest way to convert it to salary account ?
And is there any problem if i DONT convert it to salary account and use savings acc itself as salary account ?

Just check with the Bank reps who visit your company; they will just take a form signed mentioning to upgrade the existing Savings account to salary. It can be only done via the Bank reps assigned to your salary account and not from the branch.

Not much benefit for salary account tough apart from some corporate benefits if any like free debit card/transactions etc

It is always better to open new account instead of account update
I guess we cannot open 2 savings account in HDFC with same holding pattern; so I guess you cannot have separate savings and salary ac with them together

In case f HDFC, you can contact your branch to convert your account to Salary account. It has some added advantage, like Zero Balance account , Free Debit Card (even if no balance is maintained), faster approval of Credit card, faster pre--approved offers, etc.

call or drop an email, stating that you want to convert your account to salary account. Or, ask them to close it and re-open. There should also be an option online or through mobile banking, but I am not sure about that.

HDFC Mobile banking app > More > Salary account services > Update your employer details. They'll process it.

If you want their credit cards, then converting it to a salary account is the best option. In addition to that, debit card is free and your account essentially turns into a free Zero balance account.

In hdfc.... Employment proof is also required... Icici only require salary credit in account... After conversion

If we open a regular saving account with HDFC in urban area, which debit card we will receive by default? Is there any control in place to order debit card as per my own choice? Kindly please clarify.

Mostly they will issue millenia.... Or if platinum... Mostly the employee has targets for issuance of debit cards... The one they have target for that month they will apply for that... They usually dont ask for choice...
Which is the cheaper one? From net banking can I order debit card of my choice?
