ICICI Bank iShop Accelerated Reward Points Portal Launched - Upto 36% Reward Rate 🔥

As promised by ICICI Bank at the time of launching the Emeralde Private Metal Card and Times Black Card, they have introduced their Accelerated Rewards Portal, iShop by ICICI Bank. Through this portal, ICICI Bank cardholders can earn accelerated rewards when purchasing gift vouchers, booking flights, and reserving hotels.

The portal is similar to HDFC Bank’s SmartBuy for HDFC customers. However, ICICI Bank also offers accelerated rewards to its debit card and net banking customers, even if they don't have an ICICI credit card. The portal appears to be in beta testing, as ICICI Bank has added a "Beta" tag to the iShop logo. So, expect changes in rules and capping.

Let's dive into the details of this portal!

Reward Earning on iShop Portal

Credit Cards & Debit Cards:
  • 6X Reward Points on Flight Bookings & Shopping Vouchers
  • 12X Reward Points on Hotels
  • 4% Cashback for co-branded ICICI cards
Net Banking Customers:
  • 3% iCash on Flight Bookings
  • 6% iCash on Hotels
  • NA% iCash on Shopping Vouchers

Redemption on iShop Portal

You can redeem your credit card reward points on the iShop portal.

The value of credit and debit card reward points depends on the card you hold. For example, with the ICICI Bank Emeralde Private Metal Credit Card, 1 reward point = ₹1.

  • Hotel Booking: You can pay 90% of the order value using reward points, and the remaining 10% must be paid using the same credit card.
  • Shopping Vouchers: You can pay 50% of the order value using reward points, with the rest paid via card.

For Net Banking Customers:

  • Instead of reward points, Net Banking Customers receive iCash from iShop (1 iCash = ₹1).
  • For flights, hotels, and gift vouchers, you can use a maximum of 80% iCash, and the remaining 20% must be paid via net banking.

This is an amazing launch from ICICI Bank. ICICI Bank has often been tagged as a low-rewarding credit card issuer, but with this portal launch, customers can now earn significant bonus reward points using their ICICI Bank credit cards. This is a great way to revamp the bank's credit card portfolio.

One key expectation from ICICI Bank is that they should enter the airmiles game as soon as possible. According to some sources, they are already working on it. They are also aiming to launch a hotel co-branded credit card soon.

Restricting vouchers to NetBanking only on a portal for rewards on credit cards is plain stupidity. Every month or two, there is a new restriction on iShop.

ICICI keeps showing again and again that they're suckers. At this rate, within a year they will be back to where they were in premium card segment - useless. It took HDFC years to devalue Infinia and DCB, and even after this they did manage to earn a number of new customers who still stuck to them. I am not a big fan of what they're doing nowadays, but it is clear there was a lot of effort and thinking behind Infinia and SmartBuy. Whereas ICICI just copied them, and within a span of 6-7 months - added convenience fees, limits, removed vouchers. And to make it worse, lack of transparency and accountability. Things don't look bright for ICICI in this segment, so if you're just piling up points like me I doubt there is any point of doing that for long. Those travel partners are NOT coming.

HSBC has been showing a lot of promise with respect to CCs, while it is difficult to get their cards due to less service coverage and eligibility criteria - those who can would actually enjoy the benefits for longer given their sustainable model.

Looking at recent developments, they seem very enthusiastic about placing themselves somewhere in the CC game.

So, highly likely that vouchers are coming to HSBC (Premier, at least)!

This month I received all accelerated reward points in the statement irrespective of whether those are visible at ishop portal or not.
Last ishop transaction was on 12th October and I received iShop accelerated points till that date. Statement generation date is 18th of the month.
Looks like something has changed at the backend.

Even I have no problem in getting accelerated points on I shop

I have noticed odd thing. Statement generated on 18th. It shows around 13000 rewards earned in last month and in rewards balance it shows +13000 earned in September month but total of balance has increased by 5000odd from last month balance. What is this logic anyone understands? Actually there is no rewards statement anywhere so one has to keep manual track only. Earlier all rewards shown in statement used to be added to balance after 5 days of statement now it is some odd calculation.

For me the points have still not been added to the balance. Statement generated on 18th

Statement generated on 15th, still points are not added to the balance yet. usually it gets added after 5 days, last month it got added in just 2 days, but this time it has been 7 days and yet the points are not added. Very inconsistent.
