If I pay with points, does this invoice show the cash value?

Hi,

I am looking to book hotel stay for attending an office event. I will be reimbursed later once I submit the invoice. I have Amex points that I can use, but if I pay with points, how does the invoice reflect that? Will it just say paid with points, cash as Zero or do they put the cash value of the stay and say settled with points? Main question is does the invoice ever say the true cash value of the stay in the invoice?

My other option is to book it with Smartbuy Infinia with all cash and accrue the points.

Use Infinia only, fully paid via card, so that you will accrue 33% reward points on entire reimbursed amount. And then use points for personal vacation. Why use points and let go possibility of accruing points with no real expenditure?

When you book with points, the invoice won't mention anything as room rate. It will just be the incidentals.

Whether you should book through SmartBuy or directly with Marriott depends on what your Marriott status is, what would be your total expense, and the remaining accrual limit for HDFC monthly bonus points.
