'I wish to do more, but...': Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on tax relief for India's middle-class
The government reportedly is exploring broader income tax reductions for individuals earning up to ₹15 lakh annually, potentially impacting millions of urban taxpayers grappling with high living costs.www.businesstoday.in
Tai kah rahi h up to 15 Lakh kuch relief degi. But don't expect too much.
Personally waiting for clarification on rebate u/s 87A under new regime. Whether capital gain include in total income for calculation of rebate u/s 87A or not. Last year they changed form silently on 5th July and after that lot of returns proceed with demands.
My expectations regarding tax slab from this budget.
New Tax Regime:
0-4 Lakh: 0%
4-8 Lakh: 5% (Rebate up to this)
8-12 Lakh: 10%
12-16 Lakh: 15%
16-20 Lakh: 20%
20-24 Lakh: 25%
24 Lakh+: 30%
Old Tax Regime:
Babaji ka thullu (No change).
I had to use calculator to ensure it is sarcasm. 😁Middle Class should be ready for surprise this year on Feb 1 due to Delhi election.
One masterstroke and Dlehi will vote Kejri out and budget is the weapon this year. Deliberately elections are held after budget which were in Jan in 2020 although at that time budget was a March thing.
Expecting 2.5% reduction in 10L-12L slab which is 15% right now. So 12.5% will bring cheers to middle class. Already 10000+400 given last year applicable from this year. So extra Rs.5120 for votes.
Yups it was a sarcastic post but with clear calculations.I had to use calculator to ensure it is sarcasm. 😁
Everything is ok but 5000 + 4% = 5120? Or I am missing something.Yups it was a sarcastic post but with clear calculations.
Last year 3-5 and 6-9 slab made 3-6 and 7-10 (9-10 was 15%). 5% decrease over 2L amt making effectively 1L MEAN calculation at 10%.
So 1 Lakh increase in lower slab made outflow of Rs.10000 +4% cess (10% of 1L) back in pockets. Now if they cut 2.5% this year in 10-12L wali slab which turns out to be 5000+4% cess in tax benefit. So 5120 more will come in middle class pocket and we all know middle class votes for Rs.1000 benefit also. Lower middle class earning upto 7.75L are already under Nil direct tax. But then Govt covers the same from them by increasing GST from 5 to 12 or 18 to 28 to get everything back.
You aren't missing anything. I missed Rs.80. Yes 5200 it is.Everything is ok but 5000 + 4% = 5120? Or I am missing something.
