HDFC Infinia Upgrade request getting rejected even though ITR is 48L

Sent emails to the 2 email IDs one after the other and got the generic email stating that “
we regret to convey that we are unable to accede your request for card upgrade to Infinia card currently as per the internal criteria of the Bank. We would like to mention that the same is not in isolation to your card account but is followed as a standard procedure across all customers.”

Existing Regalia has a limit of 8L and been using it for more than 3 years.

I don’t satisfy the 10L limit and 7.5L spends over the last 6 months criteria.

Is there something that I can with respect to 48L ITR ?

Damn!! They should've given it to you on the basis of loyalty. But guess these days only new sales matter for the bank.
Not only CC, having salary account with them since 2004 and yet they are hell bent on the 7L spend in 6 months criterion. Have escalated it through corporate RM now. Waiting for a week or otherwise, moving to AXIS for good.

Email them with your relationship details and how long you have been with them and state that you will move all your funds and salary account to axis if they are not ready to upgrade your card.

They never tell you the reason of rejection.

I satisfy everything else but this expense. My CIBIL is 814 and never have a delayed payment mark on it. HDFC just acting elite and that gets on my nerves now.
Just was wondering if they have jacked up the spend criteria post DCB metal. Definitely agree on HDFC attitude. I am also in a similar boat, have a high NRV with them, Infinia was rejected. Now I have DCB, which I putting the spends on, will ask again in 6 months. If they dont budge, will probably move stuff out to a different bank.

For Axis, we missed the bus? Thought Magnus LTF is only offered till Nov, but need to have account with AQB 45 days before that timeline.

Did u explicitly ask them the reason for rejection? Theres some rbi guidelines about banks being bound to mention rejetion reasons, it might not be applicable in your case but try that as well. Ask them for exact reason.
If all else fail, close ur card and reapply for Infinia using Agent/RMs, this should do the trick

1. close all hdfc account and credit cards
2. wait 6 months. Your previous cards will get purged.
3. open a new salary account, with monthly credit > 3.25LPM
4. HDFC will start harrassing you for credit cards. Say NO
5. Wait for 3 months with net salary credit of >3.25LPM
6. Apply online for CC. Don't bother with agents/RM/branches.
7. you should see infinia as one of eligible cards.

This worked for me.

This could be an option, but doing a song and dance and waiting for 9-12 months to get a card just doesnt feel right. HDFC has it fundamentals screwed up to let go of an existing customer but spend to attract a new one (well, it is the same customer just with a different getup)

Its all about growth, target etc. for these banks. Customer satisfaction gaya tel lene. They get away with anything because we don't have any other alternatives. With rising default rates, banks are themselves responsible by providing pre approved offers to financially unstable or unemployed persons.

Its a vicious cycle, banks give Pre-approved offers to ineligible customers, customer defaults, Banks start being cautious with other eligible customers.

According to my Bank POC, 2.7L net salary credit in HDFC acc is enough for Infina.

I dont know a lot about Axis cards, but I thought only LTF had a deadline, MFB can be procured even after that but as a paid card, no?
Since M4B is a surrogate product of Burgundy accounts, if they do not extend the deadline for the LTF criteria, then future cards should be issued as a paid variant. But seeing how the interest rate cycle has peaked and banks need to bring in more deposits during the downcycle, they may decide to run this gimmick longer.

Exactly my point. And a salary account holder for 20 long years. Talk about screwed up cards division.

Nope, thats not the case. As per my RM (Not corporate but preferred banking account RM), mine is rejected since I did not spend 6-7L in last 6 months on MoneyBack CC that I have. Who in right mind would spend on something as shitty as MoneyBack.

I think he meant for new customers. Since for new customers, HDFC does not have any data on their spends, there is no spend criteria.

I believe the cards division is operating highly independently off the other divs in HDFC. Each div is prioritizing its individual profits rather than as HDFC as a whole.

Same for HDFC Billpay not allowing HDFC CC but other banks' CCs
