INSANE 7 TO 7.7% CASHBACK ON FUEL PURCHASES USING IDFC POWER+CC

Hi folks. I have been using the idfc power plus CC for last 2 months. It is one of the most complicated CCs in terms of its usage. But I have figured out the best way to milk maximum cashback out of this CC. Combined with the ongoing 3% happy coins valueback offer on HP pay(valid till 31st March), I could get a sweet 7.7% cashback on this card (cashback of around Rs.25 on a purchase of Rs.300 fuel). Here's how I received this cashback:-
1. Went to my nearest HP pay gas station. Asked that guy whether they accept HP pay wallet. He said yes.
2. Immediately loaded HP pay wallet with Rs.300 using my IDFC power+ CC using CC-Avenue portal. Paid the amount from wallet by scanning the HP pay QR pasted on the wall. (0.85% = Rs.2.5 surcharge for wallet load)--> This is better than swipping the card where the fuel surcharge is 1% and the swipe machine may not be registered to HP.
3. Got 60 reward points in idfc app after 2 days when the amount got settled (30X for every Rs.150)
4. Addl. 33 reward points received immediately in HP pay app in the form of Happycoins(Transferred those points to HP pay wallet)--> This is before scanning and paying to the petrol pump.
5. After scanning and paying I received 3% more happy coins(=9 happycoins) as part of the HP pay fuel fest that has been going on. 1000042148.webp

So for a fuel purchase of Rs.300 I received 60+33+9=102 reward points= Rs.25.5( 1 RP=0.25 rupees)
After deducting the Rs.2.5 surcharge net cashback=Rs.23(7.7%)

Even if u remove the 3% bonus points cashback after the march 31st offer ends, still the cashback will be around 7% which is very good.

I know that there will be a redemption fees of Rs.99+gst but considering that IDFC points never expire, I can accummulate these points and then redeem them after some time. This almost competes with bpcl octane card's cashback(SBI octane CC's fees is 3 times that of IDFC PP).
Moreover IDFC has modified its reward point notification system wherein we can check how much reward points we r receiving within 2 days once the amount is settled(like sbi CB card). This makes it easy to track the cashback. 1000042146.webp 1000042147.webp

Yes wallet load also gives RP. I have done 3 times and received all times. Just load in multiples of 150 as u get 30X per Rs.150 spent. 1st txn has to be by card swipe to be eligible for Rs.500 cashback as confirmed by customer care

But still the net cashback comes at 5.75%. 3% happy coins= 0.75% cashback). Plus no separate cashback on sbi CB card for buying gift cards through Estore. Not to forget IDFC PP also gives 5% cashback on grocery+utility+LPG gas booking+Fastag recharge

Ltf bob hp energie card also giving 7% currently..+ 1% fuel surcharge waiver.... with hp pay offer... . So why to use a paid card

For grocery u can get 10% in hdfc swiggy.. For online... And for offline... Ltf rbl shoprite and hdfc pixel cards can give u 5%.....I am more inclined towards ltf cards.... So thses are options for ltf card seekers....

I agree LTF BOB HP energie is a decent card but it is not LTF for everyone. It was given LTF only to a few people a while back. It has 499+gst fee reversed on spending 50k per yr. Moreover it gives only 24 RP for every 150 spent at HP which is just 4% cashback. If u combine addl 1.5% HP pay cashback plus 0.75% fuel fest cashback and 1% surcharge waiver still the total cashback stand at 7.25% which is less than IDFC PP's 7.7%. Afaik BOB energie reward points get credited after statement generation. It is difficult to track the points. Bob points expire in 2years.
As for RBL shoprite.... I prefer to stay miles away from these RBL folks. Dont want to get spam calls daily after card application.
IDFC PP gives addl benefits of RSA upto Rs.1399 per year+ BMS movie ticket 25% off upto Rs.100 every month+ Domestic airport lounge once every quarter(min. Monthly spend of Rs.20k) IDFC PP is a bang for the buck. No doubt HDFC swiggy and Pixel cards r good if LTF.

One last thing how is it 7.7% could you help me with breakdown.

We get 30 points for 150 spent so that's roughly ₹7.50 + 3% Happycoins (till 31/03/25) around ₹1.125 this equals to ₹8.62 – 1.27(0.85% charge) = ₹7.35 (4.9%) afaik.

Strictly swipe only or tap or dip will also work for 1st txn ₹500 welcome cashback?

As soon as u load wallet using idfc card you will receive 6 happy coins per Rs.100 for wallet load. Hp pay gives addl 5 happy coins in HP pay app for every Rs.100 loaded. This is even before scanning and paying.
So for every Rs.100 wallet load u get 6RP for using IDFC cc + 5 RP from HP pay= Total 11 RP per Rs.100 wallet load.
U can transfer them to HP pay wallet for 1RP=Rs 0.25.
I received 33RP immediately after loading Rs.300. It is better to load in multiples of 300 so u get 30X rewards for every 150 in IDFC app and also rewards per Rs.100 loaded in HP pay app.

Did card swipe of ₹750 now so when can I expect ₹500 cashback and do I get rp for this txn as well?

750/150 = 5*30 = 150RP?

If this is your first card swipe done within 30 days of card activation then you will see the Rs.500 adjusted in your next month's statement. Just make sure that the HP petrol pump where you swiped is registered on the HP website. Few HP dealers in my area are not registered on HP authorised dealers' list. Their POS machines are registered on their personal name.
And yes you will get 150RP within 2 days once the amount gets settled. The RP will be visible in IDFC mobile app. Actually you will get 151-152RP because the IDFC app calculates the RP by dividing the transacted amount+ 1%surcharge(750+7.5=757.5-->in ur case) by 150 and then multiples it by 30X. This comes out to around 152RP.

If I get RP that means I'll get cashback as well right? It shows HP SERVICE CENTRE MU in merchant name.

I got this card but it did not work at my nearest HP petrol pump at all despite activating the card, setting PIN, doing 1 ecom txn, 1 UPI txn. Made sure it was HP POS machine but both tap and dip (by entering PIN) failed on that HP POS machine and it gave the error "Card not active". This makes me ineligible for ₹500 welcome cashback. Another HP petrol pump is too off. Since such fuel cards are at the mercy of the POS machine at the petrol pump working properly, I realized it wasn't a good decision to get this card. IDFC refused to reverse joining fees also and said from their end, they couldn't see any errors about card declined or transaction failure so the HP POS machine was to blame. Closed the card in frustration. Will get SBI BPCL Octane or IOCL RBL Xtra card. HPCL sucks and IDFC sucks too.

Did the same with ICICI HPCL CORAL AMEX
Got 2.25% CB (9% Happy coins) while loading.
Got 0.75% CB (3% Happy Coins) while scanning.
Mm
1% charged using loading.

However, once the txn was settled, there was no reward points shown in the imobile app.

Weird things, the seller's name is not HP. Just a 10 digit number starting with 9.

Will update after the statement is generated
