INSANE 7 TO 7.7% CASHBACK ON FUEL PURCHASES USING IDFC POWER+CC

I got this card but it did not work at my nearest HP petrol pump at all despite activating the card, setting PIN, doing 1 ecom txn, 1 UPI txn. Made sure it was HP POS machine but both tap and dip (by entering PIN) failed on that HP POS machine and it gave the error "Card not active". This makes me ineligible for ₹500 welcome cashback. Another HP petrol pump is too off. Since such fuel cards are at the mercy of the POS machine at the petrol pump working properly, I realized it wasn't a good decision to get this card. IDFC refused to reverse joining fees also and said from their end, they couldn't see any errors about card declined or transaction failure so the HP POS machine was to blame. Closed the card in frustration. Will get SBI BPCL Octane or IOCL RBL Xtra card. HPCL sucks and IDFC sucks too.
Actually the HP dealer is to be blamed here. Some HP dealers deliberately rig their pos machines to fail credit card transactions to avoid paying the MDR charges. Same thing happened to me the first time I tried the card. The swipe machine read failed transaction even though my card was active and the guy insisted me to pay using his paytm qr code. Apparently they do not have to pay high MDR charges if paid using paytm QR code. Same problem happens at many other petrol pumps too be it BPCL/IOCL/HPCL. Many fellow TF members have complained about being unable to redeem BPCL Octane card's reward points because the petrol pump doesnt have the correct POS machine. To overcome this issue HPCL has pasted their own qr codes on the walls. This eliminates the whole POS machine hassle while also giving more return. If the petrol pump guy denies using the QR code for HP pay then u can email a complain to HP website. The manager will himself call u and apologise( real story..read it somewhere is reddit). HPCL is minting huge money through their cobranded cards in the market. They r more than happy when customer uses HP pay app. Currently HP pay app+IDFC PP card is the most rewarding and smooth process among all fuel cards.

Well it's too late for me. The card is closed and my ₹590 wasted. Even though this may be a problem with all petrol pumps whether it's BPCL or IOCL, I will try both now and hopefully my luck won't be so bad as with the HP one in my area.

Anyway if the POS machine is rigged so the card txn fails, won't it show up in IDFC's system that card txn failed or was declined? IDFC said nothing showed on their end

Best option always depends on one’s comfort zone with respect to usage/acceptance and willingness to make effort to get max return. There are other options as well. Attaching a thread with similar discussion but on RBL IOCL Xtra card. Context remains the same here as well.

Not sure if it would show up in their system. My guess is that if the POS machine is disabled for any credit card transactions then there will be no message sent to the issuer/acquirer bank on swipping. The machine will simply not initiate any process. At most you will receive a "transaction failed" message in ur mobile. I received that message alone.

I did not get any such message either! It's as if the card txn was never attempted 🙁

Add bank of baroda hp energie card too to that smoothness... And its ltf too so more peace of mind after offer ends on 31st march... U can still get 5.5% +1% fuel surcharge waiver

But BOB energie is not LTF for all. It is only for limited time period offer or for ETB customers who already have a BOB card. Otherwise there is annual fee of Rs.499+gst reversed on spending 50k. No RSA facility available unlike IDFC PP. Also BOB RPs expire 2years. There is always that worry of RP expiring before collecting enough points.
I saw a youtube video where a customer got their IDFC PP card upgraded from paid to LTF under some offer. I think if you use IDFC PP card regularly u may also get that LTF upgrade. Otherwise also a mere 2k fuel spends per month on this card recovers the annual fees in 4-5 months. Rest is pure savings.

These days energie card is ltf if u have any other bob card..... They are giving it like candies... Plus its also a rupay card so upi also works if someone want to use it.... Rsa is not a very demanding feature for normal folks..... Its usually for a niche section of population.... Hardly used... In bob u can redeem if u have minimum 500 points...

Even IDFC PP is a Rupay select network card, can be used for UPI transactions. But I get your point. BOB energie would be a good card if LTF. For NTB customers like me it is a bit of a hassle to get it LTF. Ultimately if I have to get a paid card I might better go for the one with higher return, plus the 5% cashback in grocery + Fastag+ LPG gas+ RSA(can be useful for something as silly as dead battery/No petrol in car/ forgetting keys inside car) makes IDFC PP a bit more versatile card.

Apparently, HP Pay doesn't give rewards for LPG cyclinder booking. I booked LPG using HP Pay and got charged surcharge on IDFC PP+ card, no Happy coins (IDFC rewards received). Happy coins are only for Fuel and wallet load. Next time I'm booking using AmazonPay using SBI CashBack Card. For fuel, PP+ works smoothly.

Use Airtel Axis CC using Airtel thnx app to get a sweet 10% cashback on LPG booking irrespective of the distributor. Amazon is giving 10% cashback upto Rs.250 only on Bharat gas cylinder booking until 16th May(only applicable once per user) and 2% for other users.

If this is your first card swipe done within 30 days of card activation then you will see the Rs.500 adjusted in your next month's statement. Just make sure that the HP petrol pump where you swiped is registered on the HP website. Few HP dealers in my area are not registered on HP authorised dealers' list. Their POS machines are registered on their personal name.
And yes you will get 150RP within 2 days once the amount gets settled. The RP will be visible in IDFC mobile app. Actually you will get 151-152RP because the IDFC app calculates the RP by dividing the transacted amount+ 1%surcharge(750+7.5=757.5-->in ur case) by 150 and then multiples it by 30X. This comes out to around 152RP.
Got 152 so I'll get ₹500 cashback as well right..?

Here another offer:

Here another offer:
HP pay is giving only 0.75% cashback. It is actually 3% Happy coins= 0.75% cashback( 1 Happy coin=0.25paise). So net return on Kotak debit card will be 5.75% ( or even lesser if you deduct the surcharge).
