Today got email regarding amex MITC change and it was mentioned about destroying card and removing standing instructions.

So, I feel that the TITLE IS TOTALLY MISLEADING (with what is shared
to deduce that).

A couple of minutes back, AmEx sent me an email offering Motor/Car Insurance package with a few additional benefits.

I got this for my primary card. This could be related to the massive speculation going on in the other thread where people think Amex may need to start generating new card numbers to comply better with BBPS unique last 4-digit card number + phone number combination, and that’s why they have put new card applications on hold.

For example two of my own primary cards have the same last 4 digits, which may be a hurdle to how BBPS is set up to work.

This is still just speculation on my part and I don’t claim to really know anything about this MITC change. But the timing is definitely interesting.

It is for Old cards. So the expired cards or replaced cards.

Not at all. I got hese MITC mails many times. This part of their GRC process. I've been an Amex member since 2001 and it's pretty much standard ops. However, something is up at Amex India with the new applications being stopped temporarily.

I have received same email yesterday but I have also received a new Gold Card today in addition to Travel Platinum. If AMEX had to exit, why issuing New Cards. I think, it's something related to configuration or upgrade issue or may be some additions to Co-Brand list.

I work at Amex, Amex doesn't have any such plans fyi.
