Today got email regarding amex MITC change and it was mentioned about destroying card and removing standing instructions.

Is amex exiting india?

Safe disposal of your old Card – Please destroy your old Card, ensuring the chip is destroyed, and dispose of it responsibly to avoid misuse.

Managing Standing Instructions (SI) for your existing Card – To ensure uninterrupted services, kindly remove Standing Instructions (SI) for any recurring payments to utilities, subscriptions, insurance, Card bill payments and more that are linked to the current Card. Once you receive your replacement or renewed Card, set up fresh Standing Instructions with the updated details.

I too received the same email yesterday and when I asked the rep they said it is just a informative email how to dispose of the card once expired or closed. Nothing to do from pur end or to worry the rep said.

Received the same mail yesterday, and contacted their support. They said it's just general information and no action is required from our end.

Interestingly, she just copy-pasted the message and ended the chat abruptly after asking me if there's any other question from my end. All this happened in 1 single minute—didn't even give me time to type "yes/no!"

Height of frustration from job...she should better resign from there.

Can you blame them ? No where in any of these mails does it mention anything about them "leaving" or disposing of "current card".
And if they were to be leaving the mail would be very different , not just an update to their T&C.

Such click bait titles will only garnish unwanted attention, especially from journalists and bankers who already lurk not only on this forum but also on reddit.

Please change the title and edit the body of the post. Already on the home page on chrome.

They would not have disconnected
. Once you type yes or no they will respond again. Sometimes it takes time for their response. It happens to me also same person will revert. If disconnected another person will communicate with you.

Sorry to use such strong words (probably offensive to some), but how dumb can a lot of people be to not understand simple language ?

MITC is T&C, not a newsletter or announcement, they outline a bank's terms, conditions and some general guidelines of what the bank is responsible for and what the customer is responsible for.

The email itself is in such a basic language that it should be clearly interpretable with some basic thinking that the bank is outlining how to dispose of your card if you no longer need it (Cancelled it, not using it, want to discard it, etc.) and should also disable any SI on it too.
Why ? Probably because they must have had to deal with even dumber customers who tried to cancel the card and threw it as it is and it was misused (or tried acting oversmart and misused themselves) and claimed they had cancelled the card.

You should always wait for official cancellation communication before throwing or disposing the card, and I said throwing because thats what a lot of people do, when you should actually properly dispose the card (by cutting it apart).

The title and the thread itself is such a clickbait, exactly the kind of masala our TV news also like....
--------------
Also, just to add, they specifically added "old card" too for renewals. Card renews, people throw their old card as it is, its found by scavengers/scammers and they use the card's (visible) details to pull off scams (whether with you or through you), the most basic one, posing as bank executive and communicating with you with full details of your old card.
