Is it worth holding to Magnus after getting Amex Plat?

Hi,

I just took on the Amex offer of Platinum Charge card and now am planning to close my Magnus. I feel my current cc portfolio of (Infinia + Neu Infiniti Rupay + Amex Plat Travel + Now Plat Charge) should be sufficient. Only dilemma is to swap Magnus with Atlas or just shrug it (pun intended). As of now the biggest use of Magnus (got it before Infina) was just lounge use (including on supplementary card for spouse) and Book My Show. Enjoyed the party on ERs while it lasted. But now I feel it doesn't make sense to pay for annual fees for no renewal benefits (am always willing to pay and get renewal benefits). Once I get supplementary cards on Amex Charge I should be good to go for the lounge access for spouse and family also. So should I swap to Atlas or just end my relationship with Axis?

Atlas is better than AMEX Plat travel as Atlas gives 10% Airmiles on travel and 4% elsewhere. Plat travel is only good if you wake to redeem your points in Marriott.
I hold neither card.
Am almost sold by this comparison, but also heard that Axis just 'misses' some rewards and that it's better to maintain a spreadsheet just to make sure that Axis is giving the correct rewards points, and then haggle with Axis customer service to get those rewards points. I hear no such issues with Amex cards.
How's been your experience so far?

Swap Magnus with Atlas, If your current spend/use is not much on magnus then close/swap with atlas asap. or just use until renewal date (close 2 months before the renewal date)

How ? any info ?
The info is, it’s AXIS .this itself is a big clue.
Atlas facing AXE is inevitable..
Atlas surviving in the current form is not sustainable at all and AXIS is ready with the AXE , being new financial year in the corner

If you have some time left for renewal, I would suggest waiting since Atlas is about to be hammered really hard.

Applying for a new card and then realizing that it got devalued within a few days is a really bad feeling.
what devaluation is planned for Atlas?

you will / may not hold plat charge for too many years if you are not the luxury spender.. so always treat plat chg differently and never substitute.. i suggest you evaluate magnus independently to keep or not..

This is correct.
Plat Change is a specific card in the upscale lifestyle category

axis has many benefits that none of your portfolio currently offer
bms discount
meet and greet
ed discount
ed bday offer
guest access for international lounge

if they are not worth the fees or spends based reversal go for atlas
I agree with BMS but meet and greet is more of a notional benefit I feel. ED prime is also available with Amex Plat Charge, isn't it? Also with supplementary cards (4 of them) on Amex Plat Charge eligible for lounge that gets covered I think. So I end up paying for BMS and ED b'day perhaps.

I agree with that point. That's an important one.

As I type this I'm hearing about the devaluation of Vistara cards. I don't trust Axis anymore. I guess I'll just let them settle down in a future far far away where they can commit to a value proposition. More than anything else I like Infinia and Amex for consistency (earlier it was Citi too). So would stick to them I guess.

With the current news I just don't trust Axis anymore. Incredible that between my first post and now this reply itself Axis has done what it knows best. Turned on it's Axis upside down.

I also have similar credit card portfolio as yours – Infinia, Magnus and Platinum Charge. Based on my spend patterns, I am planning to do following:
Magnus – I will not renew and close in Q3 2024.
Platinum Charge – Due for renewal in Q2 2024; will renew it based on retention offer.
If I do not renew Platinum charge then I will apply for Atlas.

BMS offer can be replaced with sappphiro and SBI prime
So the main usp would be Ed bday and ed 1k discount
As for amex okat charge do you keep intending to pay 70k every year

Had Sapphiro Intermiles. SBI is a horror story when it comes to service and charges. Divorced them long time back. Besides with a young kid our movie going isn't going to be same for next 2 years at least. Also, on PVR you could get 5x points on Plat Charge effectively a discount of 22% I think (including flat 11% off). Plat charge retention may depend on renewal offer (if any is given) and also how much am I able to use this year. Will effectively tell me do I really need it. Else Infinia, Amex Plat alone suffice for me largely (with occasional Amazon Pay if the Infinia vouchers are not sufficient in a given month)
