Is it worth upgrading to HDFC Prime Banking from an HDFC SavingsMax account?

I have a SiavingMax account with HDFC Bank. Today, I received an SMS offer that I am eligible for a Prime banking upgrade. I am not sure what this upgrade will provide. I have the following doubts. Any expert advice on this will be helpful

1. What are the benefits of Prime Banking over the SavingsMax account?
2. I have a free Platinum debit card with SavingsMax. Will Prime also get a free debit card? Nothing is mentioned on the HDFC site.
3. For SavingsMax, the MAB requirement is 25k in savings or 1.5lakh in FD. For Prime, it is 35k in savings or 1lakh in FD. So, FD-wise, Prime is cheaper. If Prime is an upgrade from SavingsMax, most customers will choose Prime during an account opening. Why should someone choose SavingsMax instead of Prime while opening an account? [When I opened the account, I didn't know about Prime]
4. Any other benefits of prime? Shall I consider this upgrade?

Thank you in advance

Solution
What does this mean ?
Base is savingsmax + extra benefits of HNI

  • Base Account = Amazon Normal Account (Signup and Shopping)
    • This is your basic account that you sign up for, allowing you to browse and shop on Amazon. It is always there and does not change.

  • HNI Program = Amazon Prime (which requires an Amazon Normal Account)
    • This is like a premium subscription (Amazon Prime) that adds extra benefits such as free shipping, Prime Video, and more.
    • You need the base Amazon account to have Prime.
    • If your Prime membership expires or you choose not to renew it, you go back to your normal Amazon account.
I hope its clear, tried my level best...

I am in the process opening a salary account with HDFC. My company has a tie-up with HDFC.
I went through this thread fully and a few others. But have some doubts:

What I need to know is - When I go to a branch to open the acocunt, is there any specific variant of salary account that I should ask for?
Or, is it enough to just say that I need to open a salary account? (Or should I be asking them which variant I will be getting?)

Within salary account, I think there are different types as I see here.
(Premium, Speciale, Premium with Millenia, and Regular.)

I believe the variant depends on net salary credit. So will they just open a basic salary account now and convert to specific variant/tier later?

Another question is - will I get a debit card + cheque book with name printed? Or will it be default generic card + cheque kit that is instantly delivered?

I will also ask these questions to the bank staff, but thought of checking here so that I don't miss anything. Thanks in advance.

Its been more than a decade since I had an hdfc salary account. Things might have changed quite drastically now. so can't suggest.

Yes mostly depends on the net credit of salary and bargain atleast regalia gold as ltf for cc.

Based on my knowledge..

Better to open under specific variant in the begining itself rather auto upgrades, which might hassle.

Ex: 1.5L and above eligible for 'preferred'.

Note: These are variants on top of default account which might be 'premium salary account'.

Special is if salary <50k
Premium if salary >50k

Apart from that mostly no changes or differences in any of these accounts, just name.

Anycase do not wait for convert later (which happen but unnecessary delay).

Yes, insta kit has random names or letters but you can always request and it will be delivered within 1 week.

If your company has a tie-up, then you must have a POC from the Bank.
It's better to reach him.

When I opened my salary account with HDFC last year. There was a whole set of processes to open the account online without any offline interaction. There was a special link and code to use while opening the account. Usually, the account is opened in the base variant and then you can upgrade it based on the credited salary later.
