in 2014 I paid 349/gb to airtel.

Mota bhai came in around 2016/17 I guess? and I got free 4G internet for 1-2 yrs (saving me 349/m 1gb price, so 4188/y and 8400/2yrs not even factoring in that I got lots of gb's of data not just 1gb as I was getting in 2014 airtel.

After that I am paying 199/m (postpaid plan) since prolly 2019/20 and I get 25gb of data + unlimited calling from last 6 yrs and recent price of of the same plan is 100 rs extra so I have 299 postpaid jio plan. So "mota" bhai's cost even after starting the business 8 yrs back is still fckn' lower than the costs I was paying 11 yrs back.

The costing Jio has saved me in last 8 yrs now, tbh I am even fine paying them double of what I paid currently. Services are amazing, internet is fast, calling is amazing. I just don't like their wifi calling which keeps dropping on iPhone and not on android.

So Ya, I actually don't freaking care abt the competition right now, you want competition, go pay old prices of 350rs/1gb. Shell out money. People like you are the reason innovation stops, people like you are the reason why BSNL employees always treated me like shit and told me lunch brk ke baad aana. People like you are the reason why banks like SBI are still in business or railways can't innovate or electricity govt companies in Delhi NCR have monopoly. Forget innovating, a simply website of BSES refuses to open normally (bsesdelhi . com) and can't even easily show me my current pdf for bill. There is zero accountability of units consumed.

I want monopoly right now of Jio or adani etc so they can disrupt industries. Enough shitty services for Indian consumers. Does monopoly comes with disadvantages, ofcoruse yes, but monopoly of govt companies did any better for us? No it didn't!! They made us hate them even more when they told us to come to offc for a simple issue like address change.

Once we have full monopoly of private players, then may be after 20 yrs or so when we see too much price rize, we can then ask for competition and if they aren't able to do so, then we can elect political parties/govt who don't support mota bhai's monopoly, but for now, let us just enjoy what we are getting.


Everyone does it. People who are against private companies monopoly support Govt companies monopoly. Regardless monopoly is supported by either side. The diff is other side doesn't think govt companies monopoly can be called/labelled monopoly because they are run by elected people (who we know are usually dynasts / uneducated people).

I laugh on the people claiming price hikes where as BSNL used to charge bomb to consumers for broadband. Currently in my home town there's BSNL/AIRTEL/JIO, and jio charges the least, airtel 100 rs extra more and BSNL got their prices lowered from the amount double of what they were charging before, but still bsnl's costing is more than jio and airtel. Shameless govt babu's and govt companies who looted the country in corruption and under the table money and here conspiracy theorists are crying about 2 private player mergers that too which is quite transparent.

In 2014 I used to pay 549/mth for 5.5 GB EVDO data and unlimited call/sms with RCDMA and 999/mth for 40 GB EVDO Rev B data with MTS dongle.

There was no "2g scam" The hype created itself was a scam, as subsequently proved in court of law. And the basic premise of the so called "scam", that govt did not auction spectrum and opted for nomination route, is still continuing with the present govt refusing to auction satellite telephony spectrum and opting for nomination based route. This effectively upgraded jio cinema for me, from 1 screen to 4 screen (hotstar premium). But earlier, there were many offers to get hotstar premium at discounts. now not sure if that would be possible.

I am thankful we have merit based CIBIL otherwise if govt get's their hands on CIBIL too, then tomorrow there will be credit card based offers on amazon with terms and conditions saying "this offer of 10% discount is only for religious minorities or other backward caste" for SBI credit card, for general or other's, no discount. With technical advancement, cost automatically becomes cheap...per min call of 16 Rs became 1.2 Rs per min without mota bhai

I already got free Hotstar subscription through Airtel black ( WiFi n dth pack).
1099 + gst for 200 mbps n dth . I use axis Airtel cc for this payment hence CB of 250… Hotstar n sonyliv are free as long as the plan is intact.. a very good deal , I should say ..

I'm on the same boat, it is indeed a great deal and except for Prime (749) I don't pay for any OTTs that I'm currently using.
Hope they continue this partnership for years.
Also any idea when Apple TV+ is coming with Airtel Black?

TV+ not coming with Chortel black(as of now). Music was given as an alternative to wnyk subscription
