Marriott Vacation Club Phuket Offer ?

Swastik

TF Legend
VIP Lounge
So ,i received a call from someone from Marriot Vacation Club offering me 3 Nights/4 Days at Marriot Phuket for 6 Adults at $199.
I can use this whenever i want in next 1 year.

The only red flag i could find is required attendance at a 90-120-minute sales presentation of Marriott Vacation Club.

Does anyone know about this ?

I'm afraid it might be a marketing ploy sell me timeshare, and I'll be stuck there for 3 days

Probably what everyone is asking, are these offers from Marriot Vacation Club genuine, or are just a trap to end in a call where they will sell you membership in the end?

Back in the day Club Mahindra and Royal Goan Beach Reaort used to hold these marketing lunches ,
but their sales executive would become very aggressive and just down right rude if you try to walk away ,even turn things ugly and sour your whole mood ,
I've seen similar people in Vegas casino lobbies recently ,

I'm afraid if i take this trip ,they might do this and ruin the whole trip

Marriot Vacation club offers are genuine , I have used these offers once in Phuket and once in Singapore.

They run different campaigns, for phuket I got 3 nights at Mao Khao resort at 99 usd and in Singapore I got to stay at westin for 2 nights at 199 usd and on checkout also got 30k MB points

The catch is you need to attend a 90 min sales pitch with your wife where the sales agent will try to sell marriot Vacation club points which is similar in concept to club Mahindra and costs a bomb, you just need to tell them you are not interested in the offer and they might let you free earlier otherwise you will have to go through the entire presentation.

They dint budge you more than that, but remember they are highly qualified sales people so if you are not strict you might fall prey to their pitch and end up buying the deal.

Still 80% of people fall into the trap of sale people

These are legit offers from Marriott Vacation Club (MVC). I was also sceptical when I got the call but after a little bit of digging I decided to go for it.
Only catch is you and your spouse need to attend the 90 min presentation but remember to say "NO" at the end of it. That's all. The MVC team did mention that this packages and presentations are more prevalent in US/EU but now they are testing the Indian waters.

I was presented with packages of Nusa-Dua Bali / Phuket / Singapore and chose Singapore since they offered The Ritz Carlton for 2N/3D at 33k INR total (400 USD). Singapore hotels are usually pretty expensive and Ritz-Carlton regular nightly rate is >40k so their offer was a steal (33k for 2N!!!). More so because it's one of the handful of hotels that offers an unparalleled view of the Marina Bay.
I would say, if you get the offer, definitely go for it. Just remember to say "NO" at the end of the presentation 😀

These were the views from my room in Ritz-Carlton (went in May) -

Cool generally I heard they force, convince you to say yes

They do make a very compelling case. Once you say no to the first rep, he/she will bring in their boss who'll try to sweeten the deal further.
You'll have to resolutely stick with "No".
What was the deal about can you tell me. What did they offer and all. I Am curious to know what did they show in the PPT for 90min

The package they first offered was USD 45000 time share package for 20 years. The sales rep will try to know your travel patterns, how many domestic and international trips/year on an average, expenses incurred on those trips and then will try to show how soon you'll break-even even though the upfront payment is absurdly high. They'll show different Marriott group hotels at exotic locations, their avg./night price and then extrapolate with number of days multiplied by number of years to show you how much you can save over a period of >10 years if you take the package.
Basically they'll do some quick math so that the package makes sense to you (typical well rehearsed sales pitch).
For Indian customers, they were also providing Marriott Bonvoy Gold membership for the 20 years you hold the package.
Once you say no, they'll give another lower price package (USD 24000) with lesser benefits...and it goes on.
All of this calculations and negotiations happens so fast that it will start looking very reasonable and compel you to say Yes on the spur of the moment. But you need to be firm on saying no...that's all.

BY just reading the way you said. I would have said yes even if i had no money. So, I would never go for such package as i know i will surely give in to there trap!!

We were apprehensive too whether we can back out. But after attending that, now we are confident we can say no if we attend it another time. You do get nice accommodations in Bali/Thailand/Singapore at a heavily discounted price when they invite you for the presentation.
Got to know from a friend in US that many folks there get a similar discounted 3N trip to Hawaii to attend these presentations and they wait for that !
