Movie and Series Recommendation

I'm not much of a movie or series enthusiast, having watched only around 30-40 films in my lifetime. Among them, these 16 stand out as true masterpieces for me: The Shawshank Redemption, Laapta Ladies, Pitchers (TVF), Soul, Inside Out, Turning Red, Coco (all Pixar films), Srikanth, RRR, the social network, Major, Shershaah, 12 Angry Men, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Aashiqui 2 (which I loved for its music, as I’m a part time musician and deeply passionate about music; as a kid, it was the best movie with great songs). I’ve come to realize that I don’t connect much with fictional stories, and perhaps that’s why I’m not naturally drawn to movies. Based on the films I’ve enjoyed, could you recommend some of the best movies that align with my taste?

Your taste of movies align with mines too. I too don't connect to supernatural or fantasy. Pixar movies are too good, I feel like wanting to pet those cute little girl boo in monsters and the cuddly animals they show.

I heard that 12 Angry Men is part of curriculum for Americans studying law. What an amazing movie, just shot in a waiting room with 12 men deducing the entire innocence of the accused.

Many years ago, one of my friends (Murali) gave a dvd of "In pursuit of happiness" to his tea seller friend to watch. Those days, people who have access to internet would download movies and backup on dvds to watch later. The tea seller said, "Murali anna I expected some action movies like terminator but this is a story with only dialogs which I can't understand". My friend suggested him to watch for few more minutes and decide. The next day the tea seller came to Murali and said "what a movie anna, I didn't understand a single dialog but understood the entire movie and have been crying all night". That's what a good movie is, breaks the language and cultural barriers, entertains and still gives a good message.

Going by your list, seems you will like most of the imdb top 100 movies of hollywood.

OK now coming to the movie recommendations. I am just listing that are on top of my head with genre and one line summaries for your understanding, in no particular order. Which OTT, please search on your own.

Nothing beats Mollywood (Malayalam film industry). Enuf said Period. All of these are must watch.

This is movie on religious conversions and the dark side of it. Acted by Fahadh Faasil, an excellent actor. One can easily watch all of the movies acted by Fahadh.

No one can really give a one line summary to a nostalgic feel good roller coaster. Will make every one to run to their home towns to meet their childhood friends.

A folk diety giving justice to a simple tribe. Not a supernatural but surprising elements.

Tollywood (Telugu film industry)
The magnum opus of Indian cinema. Few nasty movies like Arjun reddy (kabir singh in Hindi) are there but overall TFI elevated the movies to a grand international scale.

My cousin was on a trip to Dubai, the cabbie was papistani, the chat they had was when is Pushpa 2 releasing and how he is a die hard fan of Allu Arjun. He named other stars like Mahesh Babu, NTR, Ram charan
