1. My Amex Plat Travel Credit Card Journey. I have received the 1st Amex Credit Card of my life – Amex Plat Travel – on 10th January 2025. I applied online (through the referral link from Techno Fino - here) on 4th January 2025 (Saturday), v-KYC done on 4th January, documents uploaded on 4th January, application approved on 8th January (Wednesday), CKYC record pulled on 9th January (Thursday) and card received through Blue Dart Courier on 10th January 2025 (Friday). Total time taken – 7 days (1st Amex card) in a non-metro city (Ambala). I am already having two credit cards, namely, Infinia Metal - my ‘go to’ card - and SBI BPCL Octane – for my fuel expenses. In July 2024, I paid my Income Tax (IT) through Infinia – even though I did not get any reward points, nevertheless, the spends counted towards the annual milestone of Rs 10L for annual fees waiver. However, I felt that this was not a recommended usage of Infinia. Hence, there was a void felt primarily for IT payments. So, I scouted for some card to plug this gap and selected Amex Plat Travel primarily to cater for my IT requirements (apparently it works through Canara Bank Payment Gateway - as confirmed by many users) and other spends up to Rs 4L thereby helping me to achieve the annual milestone of Rs 4L spends and giving me approx. 48K Membership Reward (MR) Points on these spends. Also, since the Infinia is on Master Card (MC) and Octane on Visa, having Amex card makes the portfolio well-rounded for almost all options. Possibly, the next step could be a Rupay card, thereby empowering me for all permutations and combinations. So, these were the considerations for my choice of Amex Plat Travel. I will use the card and then see how it works. During the application process I got a call from Amex and was offered the Amex Plat Charge Card, which I politely declined, as I felt it did not meet my present-day requirements. Plus, I can always upgrade sometime later, if I so deem fit.
