I raised this on Twitter.
Got a call back where they said there's no such policy and I can open account anywhere in India
Went to the branch again with this info, BM stuck to his position, denied account opening, and referred me to nearest branch of KYC address
I raised it customercare email, in response I got a call where the agent towed the line of the BM interestingly. I asked her to give that in writing. She didn't.
I didn't do anything, but surprisingly few days later I got a call from the DBM of the branch who apologised, assured me that I can open account there and it won't be an issue, and requested me to withdraw the complaint.
So, issue stands resolved and lesson learnt, sometimes you have to escalate if you think it's not right.

I have also applied for IOCL card. It's been 5 days since video KYC. No response from Axis credit Card team. How many days they generally take to either approve or reject the CC application?
Depending upon mood swings of AXIS.. anywhere upto 21 days .. generally between 10 and 15 days mark ..
Which amex cards are good? Can you tell as I don't have any amex card
Is residential address same as aadhar one?

My Axis IOCL was straightaway rejected without any vkyc, with the Ace application, vkyc and approval happened on the same day itself!
