Need Help - Duracell battery leakage damaged TV remote

If liquid spill is not covered in warranty then you might not get.
For Duracell I don't think they will not hold responsible. But give it a try

exactly same thing happened with my tv remote. same liquid damage with duracell battery. unfortunately mine is out of warranty and replacement remote is also not available.

If it samsung, they have a remote app that you can use to interact with your TV. I had used it for a few days when the remote on our TB was malfunctioning and had to wait for a new one to arrive.

I purchased a new TV remote for my MI TV and from day 1 it is running on duracell. Since last few days some buttons were not working. Took it to MI service center today as the remote is under warranty. They opened it and showed me battery leakage and damage due to liquid so warranty void.

Is there anyway I can claim damage charges from duracell?

The remote cost me 599 purchased from MI website. The duracell cells were purchased from local store, no invoice.
Better to replace batteries after a periodic time. I replace mine in such devices every year. The 1st instance was when the duracells had destroyed my Logitech wireless keyboard in 2007. Learnt a lesson then.

Alkaline batteries are succeptible to leaking corrosive hydroxide electrolytes which just dissolve the battery contacts.

See if any of these contacts fit the moulded placeholder on your remote. If they do then have the new contact soldered using a enameld wire directly to the pcb. Worth a try.

I have used Duracells, Energizers, Amazon Basics, Sanyo and they all are succeptible to leakage. They especially leak if the battery voltage reduces beyond a threshold.

Use a portable battery tester to ensure voltage does not drop below 1.2V. In such case just toss the battery and replace.

Duracell warranty will limit to replacement of battery alone and don't cover the item in which it is put.

Have you guys tried these BPL - USB rechargeable batteries? I have been using these for the past two years, and they work like charm.
I need to charge once in a month or once in two months.

Looks interesting. Better than conventional rechargable NiMH batteries which provide 1.25V instead of 1.5V.
