Infinia Need Help with HDFC Infinia Upgrade - Query & Discussion

Portfolio:
I am holding 2 HDFC credit cards, Diners (LTF) and Tata Neu Infinity (LTF) with a limit of 12L on both.

Spends:
I have spends of over 9L in the last 3 months on my Tata Neu Infinity card. I don't usually have such high spends, these were done on jewellery.
Diners spends aren't much now, given the restrictions on rent payments.

Account:
I'm an Imperia account holder and I think I should be meeting their salary criteria as well, though I've moved my salary account to Axis about 1.5 years ago, and balance in hdfc isn't much. Though my wife maintains a very good balance in her hdfc account ( bit accounts not linked)

Reward Points:
I have over 1L worth of points on Diners, and don't want to lose them due to the upgrade. (Read somewhere only 1/3 points get transferred in case lf upgrades).

Upgrade Journey:
I have mailed to priority redressal for upgrading my neu card to infinia. Response is awaited.

Help Needed:
What is the best course for me to take here.

Also to be clear I'm looking for a Infinia LTF card.

Infinia LTF in regular route not possible. Don’t waste your time pursuing it. Points get transferred at 1:1 if upgrading from diners black. Drop an email and it should be done as you also meet the spends criteria.

Before they upgrade ,they will ask your consent. Also they will tell you the conversion Rate of rp.

Infinnia metal ltf is extremely rare. Even after satisfying all criteria many people have to put up a a fight to get paid infinia.

Generally they check spends on the card which will be upgraded. So it should dcb. Buy as most your spend is on Tata nue. You should ask them to make this an exception.

Not discouraging but it is no point looking/expecting for LTF Infinia with this TRV through the grievance/email route.
You can try your luck with offline branch head and ask them if anything is possible if you increase the relationship, or take any new product (read ULIP)....but this is less likely too!

A few years ago, HDFC was handing out Infinia cards like samosas at a wedding, and people barely cared. “LTF? Meh, I’ve got my XYZ cashback card.” Fast forward to today, and everyone’s acting like Infinia is Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket. Suddenly, it’s the Rolex of credit cards.

Now imagine HDFC drops an Infinia Reserve—a mythical card with benefits so insane, it comes with a concierge who will read you bedtime stories. Overnight, the OG Infinia would be demoted to “Infinia Lite,” and the current cardholder hype squad will start whining about devaluation claiming, “Infinia is dead, long live Reserve!”

Moral of the story: It’s not about the card you hold, but how desperately you want the next shiny thing they dangle.

Not a serious post, just a take seeing the recent upsurge in posts related to Infinia applications.

Very hard to upgrade Tata Neu Infinity since it's a co-branded card. @techstrom007 is fighting for the same. I recommend you to ask for upgrade of DCB, based on Tata Neu Spends.

Yeah, they didn't entertain the upgrade from Tata Neu Infinity, so I applied again to upgrade from DCB.

Bank Response:

We regret to inform you that currently all cards are being upgraded as a priced Card only and we will be unable to process life time free Card.

Specific to your request for upgradation of credit card, we wish to inform you that your card is currently eligible for upgrade to Infinia metal card as first year free card.

What options do I have?

Yes this is the current scenario.
I was also trying for an LTF DCB through negotiation and TRV route but seems all that is not possible right now.
You can go ahead with FYF Infinia

I am looking for LTF Infinia Reserve. But chances of that happening are also less.

Be happy with paid infinia, it is anyways fyf.

The problem with paid infinia is that when I compare it to my LTF DCB, ot looks way too expensive for the additional benefits it offers. I may be wrong about it as well.
Majority of my spends are for rental payment and in-frequent online spends. These have also moved away from CC payments due to no reward points or additional charges bein leveraged across platforms.

How is it way too expensive? Even if you pay the 12500₹ fees you get 12500 reward points which is equivalent to 12500₹ if you use it for a flight or hotel. Basically you just need to pay 2250₹ (GST component) as annual fees.

They won't heed to your Infinia LTF request regardless of how many times you write. If they offer LTF in exceptional cases or if there are other ways to obtain it, I'm not sure.

When requested, HDFC had offered me Infinia three times between 2019 and 2021 and I had always declined it because I was holding DCB LTF. In the hindsight, I should have grabbed it in 2019 itself. You ofcourse can continue to look for LTF, but it won't be worth the effort for a couple of reasons - 1. You won't get it LTF this way and 2. It's fee largely gets compensated with 12500 points it gives on fee realization.

And even if you end up buying 34k worth of vouchers, that 2250 will get compensated with the extra 6.6% over DCB.
