Go for new if you aren't old for nps , ppf etcLet's check the tax regime selection trend for members of the forum for FY 25-26.
Even if someone is invested in NPS and/or PPF, the old regime may still not be beneficial unless there are other significant deductions.Go for new if you aren't old for nps , ppf etc
Old if you already doing it

Well, last year, they(ITD) sent notices, who filed STCG return before 29 June, (due to utility open), claiming 87A rebate.Old is beneficial if you have capital gain and your income is below 5,00,000/-, then you may receive a rebate up to 12500 on capital gain also. But in the new regime, whatever amount of capital gain you have earned. You have to pay taxes on it, subject to other conditions
Notice was sent to, who filed their ITR in the new regime and claimed a rebate. for the old regime rebate is allowed for STCG also.Well, last year, they(ITD) sent notices, who filed STCG return before 29 June, (due to utility open), claiming 87A rebate.
Later they have to pay with Interest.
87A rebate on STCG , be in old or new - Treatment (ITD) is different... (Surprise to me).Notice was sent to, who filed their ITR in the new regime and claimed a rebate. for the old regime rebate is allowed for STCG also.

Yes, still valid. People can change/ update their vote when they change regime.Yes, I saw that. But is that poll still relevant as it was for the last FY?
Don't doubt your thought process. Though I have no intention to artificially boost the number of threads. I felt the older poll was relevant for FY24-25 and hence this poll would help to know the trend for FY25-26 post the changes announced in Budget 2025. I have clearly mentioned in the heading that this is related to FY25-26, so that should help members to not get confused.Yes, still valid. People can change/ update their vote when they change regime.
It is always preferable to continue to the previous threads as long as they remain valid and relevant rather than artificially trying to boost the number of threads created by a member. Some members like that. I don't.
Multiple satellite (sometimes parasite) threads will confuse readers and not appear suitably in search options. It is much better to suggest or ask to edit the main thread if necessary. In my opinion, the core objective should always remain the flow of information with the right content and not be inflated with unnecessary posts/threads.
I understand the moderators can make their own decisions, @TechnoFino, but I always say what I feel is appropriate.
