Not able to verify SBI Cashback card on Gpay

I have ported my number and when I am trying to add SBI Cashback card on Gpay it says to Call the Bank to verify. When I added it for the first time, I didn't face any such problem.
I called back and told them I wanted to add my SBI Cashback credit card on Gpay so as per the message either activate the card or give me a verification code but the Customer support was clueless. After keeping me on hold, they came back with a response that only a Rupay card can be added to Gpay. I told him that there is an option and I have been using my Cashback Visa card on Gpay for a long time but it was something new for him and he told just mail it to customer support so they might help.

Has anyone faced this problem or know how to get this resolved?

I tried through bank registered mobile number only and the same number is on Gpay as well.
My number is still the same, I just ported from Voda to Jio for 5g services.

Due to the SIM change, all the bank apps require re-registration, and faced this problem.

Google Pay ka customer support sabse ghatiya laga mujhe...

I had faced this with ICICI cards few months ago. Only solution was to wait for like 1-2 months and that would reset the validation.

For now, remove the card from GPay and try after 1-2 months. It should work then.

PS: ICICI CC was also as clueless. They provided no solution. It's a GPay problem is what I feel.

Have you faced the problem only with SBI cashback or all eligible Visa/MC cards or only with all previously added cards?

I tried with SBI Cashback only as I don't find relevance of adding any other card on Gpay. Kiwi gives 2% on all the Scan and pay transactions. SBI Cashback is only the better one I have which gives 5% wherever it works. Previously also I was using SBI Cashback only.

For now, remove the card from GPay and try after 1-2 months. It should work then.

I just tried again and it's working, wasn't working til yesterday. Gpay simply gave option to verify using otp

I thought, I should try one last time before removing the card and it started working as before. So my guess is it could be some security measure from Gpay which restricted verification for 24 hours due to the SIM change.

Clear storage and cache of gpay then try to add it. I faced a similar problem with axis ace but after clearing storage and cache it works properly
