As mentioned in my other post, I was looking to upgrade to either Magnus or Atlas given that I had an upcoming spending. So I decided to go for Magnus, and here goes my upgrade journey.
I was already holding FK Axis (3L limit), MyZone (3.3L limit), Axis Vistara Platinum (3.4L limit). And when I first tried to apply for 4th card (initially thought to go for Vistara Signature)(well, you will be very lucky if you get 4th one provided you are not associated with Axis in terms of employment), it was rejected within a single day (applied online). I still thought to try my luck by going via Agent route (who for some reason told me it wouldn't be an issue, you would get the 4th card), so I went through with the same. This application was not rejected, but there wasn't any progress either. A week went by and no updates and finally after one week, I get "Application on hold". I reached back to agent and he mentioned, sir, you have to close one card. (What he didn't tell me was that the Axis Vistara Platinum could be easily upgraded to Axis Vistara Signature, huh, these agents, not everyone is good). So I fancied my chances and closed Axis Vistara Platinum card. And by now, the application was rejected. The agent contacted and told that we need to apply again and I was frustrated but thought ok let's try one last time. And I don't know what goof up did the agent do, the application was put on hold again. So I decided to take it up by myself.
In one of threads here, I came to know that there is also upgrade option available, so I called up customer care on 5th May just before 8 PM to get an upgrade, the request was noted and consent recorded. But it appears to me that they lose the access at 8 PM as the request was only recorded and no action done.
I contact them again on 6th May, they mention request is in progress and told me to wait for 2 working days.
So I contact them again on 9th May, and they told me that previous request was not entertained (for some unknown reason) and also told me that the upgrade process is INSTANT (as long as you meet the criteria) without any waiting, and asked me if I want to still upgrade. I went ahead, and in matter of 2 mins, MyZone upgraded to Magnus (PS: As there were 2 active cards, so they have not closed MyZone)!
Hopefully should be able to receive the physical card in quick time!
Learnings:
1. Always look out for upgrades than closing card and opening new ones.
2. Customer care is lot more helpful than the agents, always contact them first. (They will help you best available solution) 📲
3. Contacting agents should be last resort. 🤷♂️ (At the end of the day, their primary aim is to earn commissions)
4. Always research on this community wrt whichever card you want to apply for! 🙏
And now in hindsight, I'm wondering how much crucial time and peace of mind could have I saved had the agent informed me in first place regarding the upgrade. But anyways, here we are 🙂
