Devaluation Now minimum spends required for lounge access on rupay debit cards too wef 01/01/2025

Got the following sms from baroda. This devaluation is applicable for both rupay select and rupay platinum dc. Not sure if it is applicable for international lounge also.

"Dear Customer: As per revised guidelines, w.e.f 01.01.25, minimum quarterly spend is required on RuPay Debit Cards to continue enjoying complimentary airport lounge access. Visit www.bankofbaroda.in for details."

This is probably the beginning of dc devaluations. No dc will be spared. The end is here.

My take on this. Many may not agree.

I see no reason why entry level CCs should provide airport lounge access.

Similarly, LTF CCs and DCs also should not provide this feature.

Only PAID CCs, Premium CCs n Exclusive CCs should provide this feature.

Then, and only then, one can really enjoy that benefit. Nowadays, the lounges are so very crowded, it is better to sit outside.

Except for free food, there is hardly any exclusivity even in international lounges.

You can't find seats to sit. Most of the food trays are empty. You need to stand in a queue like a begger to get into the lounge. Cleaning n clearing the used glasses n plates takes a bloody looooong time. Toilets are horribly maintained. At times, outside toilets are better maintained.

Old charm is gone. Exclusivity is gone.

very well summarised sir.....I liked your comment so much....It is need of the hour to decrease the lounge access benefit

Other way to decrease crowd is to increase lounges in a particular terminal. But govt. don't cares about that.
Airport/BusDepot/RailwayStation is NOT the place to dine n wine n shop. They are arrival n departure points and Passenger handling should be top priority. Not dine n wine n shop.

What next to expect ? Theatres, stadia, dance floors in these places ?

In Airports/BusDepots/RailwayStations, everything is to be maintained as per international standards.
If those guidelines permit, then every facility mentioned above is also possible.

Spa. 🫣🤣 If there is demand for hotels, sleeping pods, theaters, dance floor, then why not. Add extra floor and do it. We live in consumption economy. More people are ready to spend (and have money to spend) , more people should spend.
