I don't open the hdfc portal frequently but saw today that now you can pay your loan using payment methods like other bank DC, wallets (only payzapp as of now) and UPI. This opens the door to lot of possibilities. You can also customize the amount you want to pay.

Update - only Rupay DC allowed as of now for paying via Debit card option.

Update - read threadmarks about how this is a tricky method of paying EMI and might not work as of now.

Only on the loan portal
How many days before we should do the transaction? Screenshot mention upto 4 working days. So suppose we have due date on 7th if I try to pay on 1st it should go through right.

Follow up Q. Have u verified? I mean regular emi won't be deducted right?

How many days before the scheduled emi date the link become active?

Let's say you have a CC for which you set an auto debit for its bill payment. Now you can pay the CC bill before the auto debit will hit your account and auto debit will only the remaining bill amount (if any) to settle the bill. Unfortunately this is not the case with loans.
Loans have NACH mandate set which is different from billpay auto debit.
NACH mandate will deduct the set amount from your account no matter what until you cancel the mandate itself. The amount deducted from NACH will be counted as EMI against your loan.
The remaining question then is what will happen if you pay your EMI twice then? The answer is you can't!
This payment option was showing for me when I was lagging on EMI payment i.e. for example, if this month is April then the NACH amount deducted in April was being accounted as EMI amount for the month of April itself. So before the NACH amount was being settled, this payment link went active as HDFC had not got the EMI amount for April month. In one such month when the link was active for my loan, I paid an EMI amount using SBI VDC and got points for it. But after that, I could never pay EMI amount using VDC as NACH was also deducted in that month and then that second deducted amount sat there for next month EMI settlement. When the next month came, Hdfc started adjusting the amount deducted from last month's NACH mandate and this payment link never went active again for me.

Complain kiya tha refund Kai liye
@2025 I had also complained but they shot me down and said the amount will keep on getting adjusted for the next month onwards. Earlier I was paying the EMI amount for the current month and now I am paying my EMI amount in advance for a month. And I got this same response no matter how many different customer care guys I talked to about this.

The only way to still reap the benefit of paying your EMI using SBI vdc and get some points is to actually cancel the NACH mandate itself and pay the EMI manually yourself regularly. As per RBI, you do have the right to ask to cancel the NACH mandate but I concluded this will be another fight and risk and didn't take it up.

I tink I have found out the issue.
1. Basically now u r paying every month using DC to get reward, right?
2. The NACH amount is not floating. Actually ur extra payment is floating to get adjusted.

3. I think we have to pay atleast 6 days before NSCH going to be presented. That's why I asked since when u get the link to pay (how many days before).

What is ur emi date? I think if u don't pay using DC this time and pay 6 days before next emi date things will be better.

Am I able to explain? Or I am still missing? CC @La pasión

Don't do it.
I am also paying emi in advance in paytm and tata capital loans. But I never faced emi cut in thoseonths. Because I follow their rules of realisation of emi amount before nach presentation is important aspect I think both of u r missing. Or may be a hdfc specific issue.

It is a HDFC specific issue. For other loans like for Tata capital loan you mentioned, the NACH amount does not get deducted if you pay the EMI from elsewhere like Paytm in this case. In case of me with Hdfc loan, it doesn't adjust the NACH mandate amount and keeps on deducting the NACH amount every month in advance. And since the amount is deducted in advance, the payment method which allows to pay via DC never becomes active and I am not able to pay it. I was only able to pay once in the entire tenure of the loan so far.

Ok. Everything is clear now.

Basically NACH won't be skipped by them. That also means no benifit. Infact loss to some extent if the tenure is long, along with uncertainty at the end.

Tell them to refund it to source or your account.

Please update it in your main post also. Thank you for clarification.
