Outlandish Credit Card Concierge Requests

What's the craziest credit card concierge request you've ever made?
I don't know if this counts as crazy, but here goes:
This was a few years back. It was our wedding anniversary and on the same day we had an early morning flight to attend a family function. Since I knew once we reached we would hardly be able to spend any private time together, airport would be the only place where we would have some time. So here's how I used the AMEX concierge (through my Plat Reserve):
  • Asked them to coordinate with the AMEX lounge at New Delhi T3 to reserve our table (my wife does not have an AMEX card)
  • Asked them to arrange for a flower bouquet and a cake at the lounge
  • Sent them some of our pictures to get a photo album printed and get it delivered to the lounge (I had shared some 100 pictures with them to get a 36 page hardbound album printed, with photos to be in a particular order, some pages with a collage of specific pictures and each page to have a specific caption)
They did all that! Did require some coordination but they were super professional and communication at all stages from them was extraordinary. They waived off the guest charge for my wife's lounge access as well. They did mention that there might be an issue with airport security to get the 3rd party vendors to deliver the album, cake and bouquet to the lounge, esp. the album. But they handled it all and it was all at the lounge on time (we were at the lounge at 5:30 am!).

I guess those days are past. Recently, I have struggled to get even basic travel bookings done through the concierge. Also, had a bad experience with the AXIS bank and VISA concierge earlier this year where they messed up on my hotel booking.

Right now the concierge is just pathetic, no ownership at all.

I had requested them to arrange an XBOX X at a good price and let me know the options. Its been over 2 months now, I did not even receive the response to this. Initially atleast they used to say it is taking time for vendor to get back, but after that, nothing at all.

And I own a Platinum charge card. So my experience with the fabled Amex Concierge hasn't been that great to be honest.

incredible. Although it is priceless, am keen to know how much did Amex bill you for the deliverables.

Don't remember exactly, as it was a few years back. But what I do remember is that they did not charge for the guest access to the AMEX lounge at New Delhi T3 for my wife. Cake and flowers were slightly lesser than the FnP rates. Only the album was slightly more expensive than the regular online printing sites, not by much though. This I was happy to pay as there was no way that any other vendor would probably not be able to deliver inside the airport at the lounge, thus maintaining the surprise element. Also, the amount of customisations and back and forth with the concierge that I had to get the pictures placed in a particular order or a specific collage format, or the placement of the captions on each page, this itself was worth it, as no vendor would allow so much customisation if approached directly. The good part was also that all communication was with the AMEX concierge only, who would deal with the vendor and I did not have to do it. Super nice. Wish that level of service had continued.

At the end of the day, I don't remember how much I spent, only that it was well worth it. Created wonderful memories and it still earns me brownie points with my wife when I bring this up 😎
