[PLEASE HELP] Best Credit Card for Paying CA$75,000 (45L) in University Fees?

I'm looking for an Indian credit card that offers a net positive return on university fee payments made through the university's payment portal. The portal charges a 2.5% processing fee for credit card transactions, plus the card's foreign exchange markup.

Here are some key details:

  • My annual university fees are approximately CA$75,000 (~₹74.5 lakh).
  • Payments can be made in multiple transactions, so credit limit isn't a concern.
  • I'm looking for maximum rewards, cashback, or benefits that could offset or exceed the 2.5% processing fee and forex charges.
Has anyone successfully optimized large international payments using Indian credit cards? Would love to hear your insights! Thanks in advance.

One cc probably wont be enough for 75L as it will max out rewards.
Axis magnus for burgundy +samsung infinite combo might be good options
You will probably get 5:4 tranfer ratio with Samsung infinite reward points as well. Effective RR wont be more than >3%

by any way he won't be able to get anything bcuz it will be a loss .. forex even if 2+18% gst its like 2.36% + cc payment fees its 2.5% as per his college site so thats like nearly 5% extra which is too much

im not sure of burgundy magnus maybe that can give accelerated points if they consider education payments above 1.5L spends then m4b is good else any other card would a big loss xD

better would be 0 forex card maybe with some basic rewards like 0.5-1-2% whatever ... if debit card payments are not charged at 2.5% extra then a 0 forex debit card would be good from indusind maybe

I already said gains wont be big.
He will get max gain with accor redemption using m4b with spends above 1.5L

Do a normal bank transfer. You will be already saving that extra 2.5%.
For such large transactions, you can negotiate Forex with the bank.

I don't think risking Axis Card for such a large amount is a good idea. They are famous for canceling the card and forfeiting rewards on such occasions. Not worth the hassle.

this is also there ... btw he can use indusind dc for some rewards if there is no charges for debit card payments then... like indusind pioneer give unlimited 0.5% reward rate

I wouldn't suggest for axis cc due to their shenanigans. You have 3 practical option
1. Use net banking. And negotiate with bm directly. With such amount you have some n
Leverage especially in last fy qtr.
2. Use a private cc. These have low markup and generally no exception. Check whether university fee payment is eligible for rp or not before applying. Most allow rp on direct payment. Target yes, idfc, indusind private or dbs vantage. Still most likely return will be -ve due to 2.5% additional fee on cc. Dbs vantage will take time. Yes private ltf might be easiest to get if you can open a private account and keep 1cr for few days.
3. What is processing fee for dc. Try for indusind private or idfc private dc.

I still believe what I suggested is better than the most. M4B + samsung infinite combo will be useful..get a burgundy status.

YES Private card (1.90%)
Axis Reserve card (1.73%)

Axis private (3.50%)
Axis Olympus, Primus (~2.50%)
4L/year: AMEX Plat Travel (~3%)
7.5L/year: RBL World safari (0.23%)
5.5L/month: YES Marquee (0.82%)

The RR I provided is net return after deducting 2.5% and Forex mark-up fee

I personally don't Recommend Axis credit cards

Getting Amex plat travel, Yes private, Axis Olympus, YES MARQUEE, RBL World safari is comparatively easy

RBL World Safari sometimes doesn't work for International Education payments(faced this issue few months ago)
