Positive experience with Millenia to DCB upgrade under Alumni offer

Long time lurker on the forum... Just wanted to share my DCB upgrade process.

Some days back I got a call from HDFC for a pre approved LTF Regalia card. Like it has been mentioned before, instead I got a Millenia and didn't realize it was an agent who gave me the call and not direct employee. However, I was OK with it as it was processed as LTF and used it a few times on Amazon to get 5% cashback.

Around the same time, I started following this forum and got to know about LTF DCB offer for alumni of certain institutions. I saw my institute in the list and of course got interested in a premium card and that too LTF.

So this is how process went.
Day 1: email to grievance redressal asking for upgrade
Day 3: response asking me to confirm over email that I am ok with upgrade and reward points conversation ratio of 1:1. I reply same back confirming same day
Day 5: response saying need to share institute graduation certificate. Reply back same day.
Day 6: response with upgrade accepted.
Next 2-3 days received the new LTF DCB card.

Essentially I got an almost one month old Millenia upgraded to DCB. No, forms couriering to Chennai, no sharing itr or salary slips or anything like that. Just 3 emails. I didn't believe how smooth it went.

Just want to thank the forum and everyone here for building such a wonderful community.

How were you expecting to get DCB then? I guess you should be happy they even offered DCP at that ITR.
coz its HDFC, anything can happen.
I knew that I'm not eligible for DCB, but I guess if I had asked them directly for a DCP, and not a DCB, then chances are high that they might have rejected even DCP.
though they said DCP in email to me, but they sent me a Diner's Millennia as upgrade to Millennia .

update: After my complaint about sending Diner's Millennia to me in place of DCP. now they have send me a DCP , with still same 99k limit.

Anyone here having received a Diner's Club Privilege card with a limit under 1L ? hows the LE scene in Diner's card

I too had a similar experience. I was holding an LTF regalia card. Emailed grievance redressal for upgrade to LTF DCB. They replied asking me to fill a form and send. Post that, I got a message that my card was upgraded. Total process was done in two emails.

@1pratham Can you tell the redressal email id? I will try mine as well as I am having a Diners Milennia of 1.3 L limit.
Does anyone know what is the grievance redressal mail id?

I have upgraded my Diners millennia to Masters millennia because of the acceptance issues of Diners at many places. Should I upgrade to DCB?

Most of my online spends are on Amazon Flipkart and offline at Supermarket, dining. Please suggest.

Amazon, Flipkart will have no problem with DCB acceptability. If you are living in a metro, then it definitely makes sense to upgrade to DCB. The base reward of 3.33% is one of the best in India.

Thank you for your suggestion. Base rewards of 3.33% is when we book flights/hotels from smartbuy portal, right?
Also, Millennia gives 5% cashback till 1000, so upto 20K spends is most of the time enough for me.

Is there anyway to get more than ~5% using DCB on Amazon/Flipkart?
Is it possible using gift card/ smart buy for flipkart?

3.33% is on everything, barring few categories like rent. You can buy amazon gift card from smartbuy which gives 10% return but they are charging a hefty transaction fee of 4%
