Problem faced while using Mobile number as UPI Number

I had used Paytm UPI app for a long time, and as you know the Mobile number is linked to the Paytm app as UPI number so if anyone used your mobile number on any other app you can receive money on your @paytm UPI handle. So for experimental purpose I tried to set my mobile number as UPI number on Phonepe to test the same so I unlinked the Mobile number as UPI number from Paytm then I used the Mobile number as UPI number in Phonepe for my Bank of India app. Now I can't deactivate the UPI number from Phonepe everytime I want to deactivate it shows UPI number deactivation failed. And due to which I can't receive money on Paytm as I can't set my mobile number as UPI number in Paytm. In Paytm it shows "mapping not found at mapper"...So please anyone help me regarding this. I tried to post complaint to NPCI, YBL, Phonepe everyone...and after all everyone ignored. Now I only can get money to that particular bank account if anyone sends money to mobile number from any app. I lost the flexibility and everything. I need help regarding this. In home page there is an option to link mobile number in Paytm. Did you try that?

UPI NUMBER is different from upi id... so your phone number@paytm will still work.. so use old upi id on paytm and continue for the moment..UPI NUMBERS ARE permanent.. cannot be chgd.. Do this... Remove all bank accounts from phonepe.. and all accounts from paytm... then reset the paytm app and add your old account again... now try upi number in paytm

I changed my UPI number between BHIM, GPay and PhonePe multiple times without any issue. It’s not permanently mapped to single app.

upi number is the new 8 digit number -10 digit number.. not to be confused with ph num or just upi id... these can be random 8 digits!!

For 8/9 digit UPI IDs, you need to deregister them first before registering them for a different UPI ID/app. However, for a 10-digit mobile number used as a UPI number, you don't need to deregister it first to register on another UPI ID/app. As soon as you activate it on a new UPI ID/app, it will be deregistered from the old one.

I am sure we have confused him.. thx.. won't drag this any further!! @itsreetj activate directly on paytm old one will get deactivated

I tried on activating Paytm the old one isn't getting deactivated. It's showing "mapping not found at mapper" contacted the Paytm support they said it's the problem with the other Payment Service Provider (ie YBL of Phonepe) as a result my phone number (ie UPI Number) isn't getting deactivated. Tried to contact Phonepe, YBL and even NPCI no response from their end. 5 days ago Phonepe forwarded my grievances to PSP YBL (third party). No response from anyone.

I know that previously I also never faced while switching my UPI number between apps like gpay, Phonepe, Paytm but last February when I linked to Phonepe (the account is Bank of India) since then I am unable to switch neither on gpay I can activate it nor on Paytm.

Tried removing all the bank accounts from Phonepe and Paytm, I also thought it could be a problem of my Xiaomi phone, so I've even formatted my mobile. But not get the issue resolved.

wherever you want the money to come.. make that as your primary account on phonepe.. whoever uses your upi num the money will go to that account.. continue to use paytm as is..

try linking the upi number on cred.. then back to paytm.. i just tried on cred and it got mapped from phonepe.. i was able to map it back as well.. last option

That's what I'm temporarily doing. The problem is lot's of people used to pay on Paytm...but they now can't pay on Paytm whenever they are typing my mobile number and sends money surprisingly I'm receiving money in my Paytm Payments Bank account (linked to that mobile number) thought PPBL isn't set as primary bank. The primary bank is BOI same as Phonepe. So I can understand the number linked PPBL account is getting money. Now particularly Paytm UPI primary bank. That's creating lots of confusion.
 
i am also having the same problem... deactivated UPI number on Paytm... activated on Gpay... deactivated on Gpay... after that when trying to activate on Paytm it shows "mapping not found at mapper"... also in Gpay it is not able to activate again... also checked with my friends mobile.. my UPI number is not active with any UPI account... so it looks like some backend API problem with UPI number

So what are your plans ?? Have you contacted the gpay team ??
 
there is one more problem.. after i got the "mapping not found at mapper" i activated UPI on BHIM UPI and tried to activate "UPI number"... on screen it says "UPI number" linked to UPI account (but actually it has not)... when I try to deactivate UPI account on BHIM UPI, it says "UPI number" deregistration failed ... in my case, right now I am not able to deactivate UPI account itself from BHIM API because of the "UPI number" problem

I have raised a case with BHIM UPI support... no response.. guessing it would be very difficult to make the support people there understand what the underlying problem is... but because BHIM UPI is from NPCI.. if anybody can fix the UPI number APIs, it is NPCI engineers...

Same happened with me.you accidentally delate the UPI number most of apps only provide deactivation of UPI number but in some case they have delate option also. In your case you wait for atleast 6month of retain you mobile as UPI number or escalate this with npci so they first debug it and manually ad it to mapper.
