[Rant] Why do banks do not show receiver account no in statement (or somewhere)

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to discuss something that has affected each and everyone of us at some point in time. Why do banks, in the name of all that's holy, do not show the receipient account number in the bank statement? I mean at least there should be some reason for this retarded and absolute shit policy. Now before someone cries privacy, I am not advocating for account numbers to be visible in pdf statements that's understandable. But Txn details via UTR or per transaction pdf receipt could be easily done without compromising anything.

Customer level non repudiation is still non existent I mean it's 2025 why the hell are banks being retarded about it.

BTW is there any bank that provides txn receipt/details without visiting branch? I mean there should be at least one bank.......

Discussion is always good 👍, but , what kind of transaction you are specifically asking ?

If you download your statements, you won't find any details about accounts you received payment from and accounts you sent money to. Just a UTR and amount. Now while I do understand keeping the incoming txn details secret. Keeping outgoing txn details is just retarded and seems like banks intentionally trying to scam people. here is a scenario.

Person A shares his account no with you (say he gives you a cancelled cheque to be safe).

You add a beneficiary (correctly) and send the money.

Person A for whatever reason (dumb, malice, retarded, receiver bank tech issue etc) claims that he did not get the money.

Now Your day is ruined for nothing and you have no way of sharing a receipt with his account no clearly visible. He would keep claiming that you entered the account no incorrectly.

I hope u get what I am trying to convey here.

Thanks for sharing, got your point,
both statement and individual transaction narrative is different.

Right now, 1 to 1 kind we are looking!!

I am sure all of us have been through this situation in the past and it is frustrating. Since account statements are often printed on paper or shared across, the full account details is not updated. There are a few options I can think of:
1. Send ₹1 first to confirm the account details and get it acknowledged by the recipient.
2. The account statement has a reference number for NEFT or IMPS transactions. This remains same for both the sender and receiver.

This only works for intra bank transfers I think. Here the receiver too has account in SBI

1. That's the whole point even if you send Rs 1 and he confirms. He can still deny receiving the larger amount and you can't do shit without visiting the branch.

2. I do understand the Ref no remains same. What I am talking about is non repudiation at customer level. You being able to share a receipt which he can not repudiate. With his account no, IFSC, amount clearly visible and digitally signed so he can't claim photoshop.

Ref no means shit if the payee denies the receipt.

PDF statements can keep all details hidden but there should be a way to download individual txn PDF receipts with all details clearly visible and pdf digitally signed (like digilocker docs). Just like interest certificates.

There is a reason cheques are awesome. You give a cheque and the cheque no appears in your statement, that's it you are done. There is no scenario where you are held accountable after it clears. Even if the payee lost a bearer cheque, it's on him. No F***s to be given.

Whosover in indian banking came up with not sharing txn receipts is an utter utter ba***rd.

Once continuous clearing goes live, I am gonna ditch netbanking transfers altogether. Netbanking only for family and friends.

It's a sample, I just did , to send the person, for his reference and confirmation.
Same with interbank.

Many banks provide such info, many not.

I agree 💯, sometime large value transaction without full details containing both parties details are difficult to prove, many times.
Bank should provide a option/ provision to retail customer.

Ok let me check sbi statement then. May be SBI provides it.

Even though I don't know why bank statements don't include account number and IFSC code, I know that Axis provides details of individual NEFT transfers including account number and IFSC code and other details.

I'd probably send the other perwon who needs a proof, a video of me logging into my Axis mobile app, going through the process of seeing the history of the transaction.

We can download each such transaction detail.

Not sure how much it could help.

Similarly, whenever I send money by account number and IFSC code via Axis UPI (within the app), it retains the history that includes account number and IFSC code, just like NEFT with downloadable receipt in image form.

This is the closest thing I found.

It still doesn't answer the original post.
