Received my American Express Limited Edition Explorer Kit! Badly Disappointed!

I have received my Amex Limited Edition Explorer Kit today and I must admit that I'm quite disappointed with the contents.

What's actually inside the box :-

1. A card with message from CEO, Amex
2. An aviator's plane miniature with a clock
3. A mini extendible telescope
4. Two Signature Voyage Tags
5. Two metal wired rings

I had high hopes considering it is coming from Amex. However, upon opening the kit, I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed by the touch and feel of the items. They exude a sense of cheapness that I didn't expect from Amex. The outer box packaging is pretty cool though 😄.

This is just my personal opinion, but I feel that Amex could have provided something of better quality for their Limited Edition Kits.

How to get it:-

If you like it you may get yours by applying for any AMEX card before 16th May 2024 (unless extended by Amex) using any referral link. Both the referrer and referee would be eligible to receive the kit.

Accepting amex payments itself is a big deal. But fintos are expecting Boeings as welcome gifts.

With Amex it gave me 8000 points , first year free or discounted first year charges to the one I referred, few sets of show pieces and 2 luggage tags for both of us everything without any fuss or mails.

Kudos to Amex for delivering on their promises and even ahead of schedule!

As it stands, their survival seems tethered to referral perks and fee waivers and this is what is keeping many of their users onboard.

Without them, many TF members and other users across India would certainly consider closing their Amex cards as they are not worth the annual fee when we can't even achieve the milestones due to restricted spending!

TBH , I don't find acceptance to be much of an issue.
We just need to strategies our card spending.
Amex cards for me is a strict online only card, I rarely use it offline.
Majority of spends are channelised through its reward multipliers or xcelerator.
For offline the usage is restricted to high end luxury shopping, hotels etc and I didn't get any acceptance issue there.

For offline spends Atlas still is a default card for me.

Amex cards for me is a strict online only card, I rarely use it offline.
Majority of spends are channelised through its reward multipliers or xcelerator.
For offline the usage is restricted to high end luxury shopping, hotels etc and I didn't get any acceptance issue there.

For offline spends Atlas still is a default card for me.

For atlas I am mostly targetting 30k EM annually , anything above that even the 5 EM category I use amex gyftr vouchers mostly or with DCB Metal smartbuy. Amex cards are used for offline hotels mostly for FHR or plat charge concierge base bookings for Oberoi or Taj.
