RPs / Milestone benefits on Govt / Education spends

Hi! I have the Axis Vistara Infinite and am planning to apply for the Magnus. Reason - Spends on govt and education mcc will not accrue RPs on the vistara cards, though they will be counted for the milestone benefits. I believe, reading through some of the threads on the forum here, that Magnus spends will still accrue these benefits. Please correct me if I'm wrong, if the rules have changed recently or are set to change. Any other cards which will give similar benefits? Ultimate is the best and least complicated but a bit difficult for self employed.

TIA

Any help guys? Major bill season is coming up - insurance, education and taxes. This is a good time for me to try and meet major milestones. No rent (luckily), so monthly spends are moderate given a simple lifestyle. Need to plan these spends efficiently, especially after the recent changes in TnC by HDFC and Axis on their cards. Vistara milestones are good but I don't see a biz ticket as the ultimate reward. I'd rather have amazon etc vouchers or hotel stays for vacations. I'll buy my economy tickets for travel. That's the main reason I have been thinking about Magnus. Do these categories make the cut in spends on Magnus, for RPs or milestone? Most discussions feature rentals, so that's why I am asking for the abovementioned categories. Do let me know. Thanks.

Hi did you find a solution for this? Is education and school fees giving normal ER and monthly milestone bonus on magnus?

Thanks!

It appears that you get normal RPs for spends on education and government on magnus. As of now. The confusion comes up as there was a notice a few months ago when these categories were removed from generating RPs (though no mention of meeting milestones). But this notice seems to be only for the regular cards, not the so called 'affluent' cards, including magnus. Unless there is a notice somewhere about affluent cards that has been missed. But unlikely. I have even come across some people saying that they have received reward points for the above two categories. But no clear answer from their helpdesk as they are confused. The best thing will be do a transaction now and figure when the bill is generated if the reward points were credited for these category spends.

Okay thank you! And for monthly milestone also it is included?

Should be. I've not come across any specific notice about exclusion from monthly milestone calculation. I can confirm that govt spends have earned points and milestone on the vistara card in Dec. So clearly not affected by the Nov exclusions. And since education and govt spends were part of the same notice, one assumes that education will also not be excluded from reward points or milestone spends.

yes I think that notice was just temporary for the 3x festive offer which ended in November.

Thank you!
