My Canara Bank Rupay Platinum DC is expiring this month. Got an SMS one month back that the new card will be issued soon and if I don't want it, I have to block my existing DC. Blocking DC in canara bank costs ₹150+gst. So I emailed
hocss1@canarabank.com saying I want only Rupay Classic (annual fee of ₹200). My branch manager called telling my request was registered as a complaint in the CPGRS (Canara Public Grievance Redressal System) and he will see to it that Classic card is issued and asked we to withdraw complaint. I told ok. Didn't do anything. But next day got email saying "Your complaint has been redressed and closed by the bank".
Also got an email saying - "The new card is auto-generated one month before the expiry of the old card. If you do not want the renewal card, kindly hotlist the existing card before the renewal card is generated"
Now fast forward 1 month, I got the new DC yesterday. It is Rupay Platinum. This one has no Rupay benefits like vouchers or ott as mentioned in previous posts. I checked the rupay truztee website. The only benefit being lounge access for which I have other cards.
In the letter along with the DC, it says, - " If you chose not to retain the card, return the card within 15 days from the date of receipt to your home branch".
So thinking of surrendering it to the branch today.
