Devaluation RuPay Select Debit Card & RuPay Platinum Debit card Airport Lounge Access Devaluation

Arey ha, maine Platinum ka dhayan he nahi diya tha. 🤣🤣

Keep in mind that banks also share the lounge usage quota from their side.

Some specific cards and higher variant platinum cards will have a different quota, and for some private banks, the quota is decided by the banks themselves, not by NPCI.
Please update in 1st post

If I have Rupay Select debit card from SBI wealth for that too is there a devaluation?
From what I know it had 4 lounge/quarter earlier.
I already mentioned this -

The airport lounge access spend based limit is decided by banks, not NPCI.

If banks want they can also increase access from 1 lounge to 2 lounges per quarter or even reduce it to 0 lounges per quarter.

Of course, banks will have to bear the cost for it.

For some banks attracting customers solely through lounge access is their USP.

If they want, they can still offer 2 or 3 lounge visits per quarter on RuPay Select debit cards.

Anyway, NPCI used to provide a maximum of 3 lounge accesses per quarter on the RuPay Select debit card. Whereas, the SBI Wealth RuPay Select debit card offers 4.

From this, you can understand that certain special cards have separate tie-ups with banks. This circular doesn’t necessarily mean that it will apply to all cards.

Yes, some special cards have exclusive tie-ups with banks. Regarding the SBI Wealth RuPay Select Debit Card, it does not offer benefits like gym subscriptions or cab coupons. However, it provides up to ₹500 off on movie tickets. I believe the PDF refers to the regular Select Debit Cards, which offer the standard benefits typically provided by RuPay.

by the way can you confirm whether the Spa and Health Check up benefits renew for you Quarterly or Yearly? as the SBI website clearly mentioned that they are once in a year.

RuPay Select Debit Card & RuPay Platinum Debit card Airport Lounge Access Devaluation:

Domestic Airport lounge program for RuPay Select Debit Card provides access to card holders one (1 ) time per calendar quarter per card in any of the participating Domestic Airport lounges.

RuPay Platinum Debit Card Holders - 1 lounge access per calendar year.

I didn't find any other changes. Everything else is the same and renewed for the next financial year 2025-2026.

Lounge access via Priority Pass costs Rs. 1,275 for banks. Wow! That's too expensive.

Thanks for sharing these very important documents.

After studying the RSDC document I see followings are imminent.
1. Downward revision of features offerings.
2. Increase of annual fees of issued cards.

In cards like RSDC can not have 1% or 2% utilisation for Travel, Gym, Health, OTT and Spa. In my view they are currently somewhere between 5% to 30% utilisation ratio for all these features.

@Abhishek012 may give us some inside data on actual utilisation, feature wise, if he wants to.

So, basically it is going to be a huge burden for issuing banks. To overcome that, banks are either going to make all these benefits annual instead of quarterly or they will increase the card fee by 2x or 3x in next few months.

Also, though it's a bitter truth, but we are actually digging our own grave by donating these vouchers for free or at heavily discounted price. Rather than always blaming to banks we must also blame ourselves for this sort of devaluation. Also it is surprising that rupay set the utilisation rate so low, instead they should have charged higher bundled price (currently 250/-) and should have offered a higher utilisation rate (say 10%). That would have provided better bargain for issuing banks.

Further it is also clear that on overall basis the cost is covered by the banks and not the rupay. Why the hell they mentioned all prices at MRP? Are we public are so stupid that we won't understand how cost reduces with increasing numbers. For example cult elite at 3850/-, Aroma at 2970/-, Golf just for the visit 2420/-? How stupid the pricing are!!

@Abhishek012 sir, I also request you to edit the first post and the title (or make it a wiki). These information has huge impact for those having these cards. It's not just about reduction of launge visit. Or else I/others will create a separate thread on this, because the content of these documents have a greater impact than what you mentioned in the thread title.

Title hints: "RSDC & RPDC card related features and pricing, annual revisions of offerings for 2025."

Don't overthink it. Visa/Mastercard don't put their exclusive tie-ups and rates in the public domain; they also have similar rates.

NPCI people's are mad for making this public.

Card networks charge more from banks, whether it's Visa, Mastercard, or RuPay.

None of this should be in the public domain.

Anyway, issuer banks should increase the QAB requirement for RuPay Select debit card eligibility and all banks should provide lounge access based on card spending.

This can help delay devaluation for at least 4-5 years.

What I think is the spend-based lounge which was introduced is not applicable from 1st April 2025.
I can not see the spend bases table on BOB's website, which was there earlier.

Talking of BOB DC.- w.e.f 01.04.2025
1. BOB Rupay Platinum - 1 dom/yr and 1 int/yr
2. BOB EMT Rupay - 1 dom/qr and 2 int/yr
3. BOB Rupay Select - 1 dom/qr and 2 int/yr

Can anyone confirm this as well?
