No, Cashback won't work for Instant discount. Instead of instead discount, you will get 5% discount which is card feature.
Generally instant discounts doesn't apply on Cashback Card but u can try. In the month of april, this year I had purchased an air-conditioner on Flopkart through my cashback card. Got 4k instant discount as well as cashback.

Flipkart sometimes shows instant discount even for cashback cards. So if you are getting instant discount then take it as you will get 5% cashback as well.

Abhi discount de dega phir 3-4 months baad SBI wapas le lega, phir bolte rahoge ki SBI Cashback card bekar hai.
SBI Cashback card instant discount k liye nahi hai toh better hai avoid karo.

You will not get instant discount with cashback card, but there is a big fish than cashback alone.
Most of the time they do deduct according to their TnC, which state that "reward points will be forfeited for all transactions done during the offer period". In case you don't have points, don't worry SBI got you. They will deduct equivalent cash and put you in negative.

Also there have been cases where they accidently deducted more cash/points. So, it's better if you write it down somewhere.
Ps: RBI turns a blind eye when it comes to SBI, so good luck if you have any future plans.

Yes, according to them 1 point = 1 value xD, but there is no full proof of that and like I said, many people have complained it to RBI and nothing happened.
SBI has a bad habit of reversing reward points and denying cashback if instant discount is taken.

HDFC bank k pas bahut paisa hai bhai. Tension maat lo wapas nahi lega.Hehe ..... I was just thinking of a nightmare scenario where HDFC decide to take back all the DC cashbacks ever paid for CC bill payments, since according to the T&C those were not supposed to be paid in the first place!
