REVISION OF BENEFITS ON CASHBACK SBI CARD:

With effect from 01 May 2023, following changes will be applicable on your CASHBACK SBI Card:

A. Below categories will not be eligible for Cashback benefit, apart from existing exclusions:

Jewelry	5051, 5094, 5944, 7631
School & Educational Services	5111, 5192, 5942, 5943, 8211, 8220, 8241, 8244, 8249, 8299, 8351
Utilities	4814, 4900, 9399, 4816, 4899
Insurance Services	5960, 6300, 6381
Card, Gift, Novelty & Souvenir Shops	5947
Member Financial Institution/Quasi Cash	6011, 6012, 6051
Railways	4011, 4112

The Merchant Category Codes are defined by the Networks and are subjected to change basis their discretion and such changes shall be implemented basis communication from the Networks without any requirement for intimation/information to the customers.

B. Maximum Cashback that can be earned on online & offline spends in a statement cycle will be capped at `5000.

C. Complimentary Domestic Airport Lounge benefit will be discontinued.

Paytm wallet load txns are ineligible right for any cb.

Paytm & Amazon reports correct MCC to banks.
Direct payment on paytm & amazon wouldn't help.

Instead buy 10k amazon gift card from Amazon (this is giving 5% now as people are reporting), and pay via Amazon/IRCTC.

Untill you yourself try, you wouldn't get it.
People are reporting that they are getting 5% on Amazon GC via Amazon itself.
Try with a small amount, if you get it give it a big amount next time.

But how will they do it? People are getting 5% CB on gift cards based on MCC. It's not like SBI will ask the eCommerce site to share the details of products customer has purchased and according reverse the CB. SBI may ask eCommerce sites to report correct MCC or use different merchant name for gift cards. Like recently Amazon has changed the merchant name for bill payment and recharges to AMAZONRECHARG, earlier it was Amazon Pay.

No why will they do that yes they can do it if the mentioned mcc you are still getting cb but if its different mcc why would they do it

This card has some serious issues.
So i was getting 5% on my spends on Linode and Facebookads (which means they were not utility).
Now i get 0% on linode and 1% on facebook ads. Tried asking sbi on email and have got no response from them.
Im now trying if flipkart axis will give 1.5% on this two merchants
