SBI CC Unauthorised transaction under dispute: Should I pay the bill?

Hey folks,

In the recent SBI Data breach, I too had some fraud transactions done on my card and I disputed those with SBI immediately (re: My post for more details), issue is, due to the incompetent morons in SBI, they did not raise the disputes properly and as such some of the disputed transactions came into my bill, I tried talking to the customer care and didnt find any help there so I registered a complaint with RBI Ombudsman against SBI cards, and sent the same over email to the principal nodal officer, which only sends generic responses in return.

I have my credit card bill due in a couple of days, and I havent received any temporary credit (despite receiving mails that i have been given temp limit, I have received zilch), should I pay the bill in full? it'll be a 40k hit on me and is something I am extremely unwilling to do considering these motherfuckers wont even pay me any decent interest when the dispute is settled 6 months later, I have paid a little more than what my bill should have been if there were no fraud transactions, just in case SBI tries to charge me for it, but I'm not sure if I should pay more.

What should I do folks?

I have recently disputed a failed transaction not refunded to account. They did give the temporary credit but it will only be credited to the upcoming statement. I paid my total outstanding including the amount for the disputed transaction.

they didnt give me any temp limit, thats the issue, I had 6 transactions disputed, originally they only gave me temp credit for 3 of them, but after my last post in the thread I linked, they even reversed those 3 temp credits, and the full amount is showing in outstanding for me, thus my issue.

Whom did you contact? Customer care or Nodal officer?

Edit: I see that you have contacted the RBI BO. What is the response from their side?

both, Customer care first, followed the escalation matrix on call, with different number, didnt help out, registered the complaint with ombudsman and then mailed the nodal officer

this is how its looking for me: on app what do you think?

P.S. whats the typical timeline of an Ombudsman complaint? I registered a complaint on 15th Jan and its not even at the processing stage

RBI BO won't be of any help if 30 days aren't passed since you initiated the issue with SBI Cards. Since, the transactions were done on Jan 5 (and you immediately made the complaint to SBI Cards), then you may have to wait at least until Feb 5 for RBI BO to even consider your complaint. Not sure if you have to make another complaint after the 30-days period passes. Hopefully some experienced members will answer it.

should I pay the bill in full?

Unfortunately, yes.

The longest (solved query) I've known is 4 months. There are people whose issues aren't solved even after 4 months.

can you elaborate a little on this? it just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth having to pay for shit with no fault of my own, and these motherfuckers won't even pay me any interest on it after my dispute is resolved a couple of months down the line

You have to pay whatever the statement bill generated. Dont even skip the point paisa.
Email to customer service headsearch explain you have not received temp credit and want timeline for the same.
You have to bear the burden of money in meantime.
I hope you have added 1 lakh competition for mental harrasment and 20 lakh for deficiency of service in that RBI complaint.

no but I'm thinking of filing another on 5th feb as @Mr. Bean suggested, I have an extensive paper trail too from 15th of January for the same and in this complaint I'll be demanding proper compensation.

But can you please explain what will be my consequences if I don't pay the full bill aside from cibil hit? I have a little bit more than the amount that should have been due if there had been no fraud transactions and it's above minimum due

Interest at 4 or 5 percent per month on total due with charges.

If you don't pay your outstanding, you will have to start another fight for reversing the charges, interest, CIBIL remark, etc. Do you want to go that path?
I know it's an unnecessary burdain, but you are safe which translates to peace of mind in this context.

what about next month? I'll be got with a 20k bill again since these fuckers are not giving me temp limit again, it's been 3 weeks since the original complaint and nothing has been done

You need to pay &fight for the disputed amount. Else cibil will take a hit.

yeah, 6 transactions done on Walmart at midnight, no OTP received, and these fuckers didnt bother blocking the card when the IVR call didnt go through but of course according to SBI I should have received the IVR verification call at fucking midnight

@Mr. Bean @Dreams Of Desire 💓 I did find some dispute emails and they have given me temp limit for the remaining 3 transactions but for some reason all 6 of them are showing as unbilled on SBi Card app and website, should I still pay the bill considering bill due is on 29th Jan and next bill will be on 9th feb,

Reason I dont really want to pay bill is, I'll need to cut this amount out of my investments, this card is mostly used for misc expenses and typical bill is of 5-6k with one or two major transactions to hit the limit for fees waiver, as far as I am understanding, next statement, my outstanding will be -30k right? and I dont really want to get this amount stuck in this card, because it would take me 3-4 months to clear it

You should have kept International txn off. While doing Int'l txn OTP is not needed. Your card details are enough it will go through
