SBI Prime card - Payment Dishonour Fee

I was checking my sister's card statements. Sister is not good with finance.

She has payment dishonoured fee levied on her card almost every month (8-9 times last year every month)

Thing is she has auto debit setup via sbi bank account. But she changed her job and new job has pnb bank acc for salary.

Now, she didn'tn use sbi acc from many years and had no bal.

but she has always paid her bills via google pay (bbps) 1-2 days before the due date.

still sbi charged fee coz auto debit was triggered.

I talked to sbi customer service and they said they can ask for reversal for last month only.

can i email sbi via sister's account and ask for all the fees reversal from last year? as she has never defaulted the payments anyways as she did payment manually via bbps.

pls suggest.

Ofc you can ask.
It's the bank who can answer that they will return or not.
Then we'll think of next steps.

someone said on reddit that card closure did the job. I was thinking let's ask normally via email to SBI, if they don't then will do card closure.

She should have cancelled auto debit facility by calling cx care. First get it cancelled else you will be charged more.

I did call (my sister did and passed call me to after verification) and they said auto debit is "mandatory" on this card. I don't know wtf is this about "mandatory".

I raised a ticket and they said to send letter via mail (post) to sbi gurgaon and they will do it.. lol losers...

Auto debit isn't mandatory. Ask them to give it in writing.

Had she completed payment before 3-4 days of due date, then she shouldn't have gotten the dishonor fee.
Technically if the payment has been settled more than 24hrs then there shouldn't be any dishonor charge.

They have given in writing actually. Looks like she opened a salary acc with sbi 7 yrs back, she was offered FYF prime card coz of this salary acc which had "mandatory" auto debit. I talked to a sbi card guy in branch and he said the same thing, he said even their own cards have mandatory auto debit coz they got it FYF or LTF. He said no customer service/pno/sbi bank can stop this auto debit. But he did say if we go to caunaught place branch or gurgaon branch in person of SBICARD, or if we send letter via post to stop auto debit, it can be stopped aswell.

Auto debit isn't mandatory. It might be sbi policy. But there is a difference between policy, directive and law/regulation.

They can enforce their policy on their employees, not on customers.

Yep, my own simplyclick card I can change auto debit requests. My SIL can't for now through app/website/email/phone support.... I have told her to send form to SBI CARD Gurgaon, let's see.

sbi vale maaje lerahe hai.. escalate it to no and pno, threaten them for RBI BO escalation... mere frnd ka rhodium corporate salary account hai.. with aurum FYF... auto debit cancel karvaya hua hai usne.. apne home branch se

for now sending letter to gurgaon, let's see what happens, will do this BO esclation after checking what sbicard do with the letter.
