Sure, after doing writes offs of lakhs of crores for big companies due to govt intervention, and taking all the loss in their books, they will definitely be the safest bank out there. Or maybe not...

SBI will never collapse. Whatever mistakes and write offs they do, whatever corrupt practices they follow. Their interest rate is a bit low compared to other banks, still a lot of people park their FDs in SBI for the safety aspect. Sometimes the FDs cross 30 lakhs and then they are eligible for wealth.

That said, trying to reach 30 lakhs for wealth which has no real benefit is not worth it.

On the bank's part, insisting for 50 lakhs FD for a Rupay select card ( which can obtained by paying an annual fees of ₹500 from some other banks) is really a cheap practice. They should have given it to all wealth accounts.

For wealth account, min 30 lakhs needed. Even then you wont get Rupay select.
Only if you have 50L TRV you get this card.

Another way is Corporate salary package Platinum or Rhodium tier.

I don't know if it is for salaried. I and my friends, who got the SRW card, have the savings accounts.

But one of my friends, whose account is upgraded through the NRV route (30L < NRV < 50L) also got the SRW card with us. The counter employee and the senior employee in the SBI branch processed our requests together and we all have received the cards.
