Scapia Credit Card – Reapplication Not Allowed After Closure? Anyone Faced This?

So, I had taken the Scapia Credit Card when they first launched.
Back then, the offers weren’t very exciting, and I wasn’t able to make much use of the card. So after a few months of low usage, I decided to close it.
Now, they’ve revamped their rewards and offers — and I must say, it looks much more attractive. Naturally, I thought I’d reapply.

But to my surprise, they aren’t allowing it.

I checked with their support and was told that once you close your Scapia account, you can never reapply again — apparently, it’s their internal policy.

I’ve seen other banks (like Axis, ICICI, etc.) allow reapplications after 90–180 days of closure, so this came as a shock.

I’m not sure if this violates any RBI guideline — since banks should ideally allow fresh applications after some cooldown period.

So here are my questions:
→ Has anyone else faced this situation with Scapia (or any other bank)?
→ Is there any RBI rule that mandates they must allow reapplication or explain the reason for rejection?
→ What are my options now? Should I escalate this further or just move on?

Would appreciate any insights or experiences others might have!

I faced some rejection issues with axis airtel and sbi cards which got approved later. However, I had to go the offline route. Don't know if scapia has such an option. Maybe my credit score improved or I simply got lucky.

Card issuing authorities have absolute control over their decisions regarding the credit cards they are issuing. If Sbi decides that they won't give a credit card to Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, then Mr. A B cannot go anywhere complaining about it.

A credit card carries the risk of issuing a loan without any security of getting the dues back in case of defaults. Same as the authority you have in case anyone known or unknown asks you for your money? It is your decision whether you want to give your money to that person.

Similar rule applies to providing a reason for rejection. They may provide the reason for rejection but you do not possess a legal right to force them to do it.

→ What are my options now? Should I escalate this further or just move on?
I would say move on. Don't bother to escalate as you don't have a legal right here. If you really wish, reapply after 6 months or in the name of your loved one who will let you use it.

I am a bit late to reply but maybe the above helps.

Thanks!!
