I had requested compensation of ₹50,000 from PayU Finance for repeatedly making unauthorized inquiries on my CIBIL report. For the past year, they have been generating monthly inquiries—from August 2024 to August 2025—without my consent.

I raised a CIBIL dispute for nine such inquiries. Out of these, six were removed, but three still remain unresolved. Consequently, I filed a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman seeking appropriate compensation for the repeated unauthorized inquiries.

Recently, PayU Finance contacted me and offered a compensation amount of ₹5,300. I believe this amount does not adequately reflect the inconvenience and potential impact on my credit profile.

Could anyone please suggest how I can negotiate for a higher compensation amount or what additional steps I can take to strengthen my case?

I just read a case few days ago idk if it was BOB or some other bank. A person tried to negotiate the compensation and the institution put it up to RBI for complaint closure mentioning compensation rejected by the user something like that so I'll suggest think and do the needful.

You yourself can calculate the compensation amount. Rs. 100 per day. Calculate no of days from enquiry date to removal date for 6 enqueries which are closed. Similarly calculate from date of 3 open hits until current date. Then give this calculation to the Payu and ask for appropriate compensation. Mention this is the rule of RBI for compensations.

For eg:
27/12/24 - 14/11/25 : Caculate no of days X 100
09/08/21 - Till Date : Caculate no of days X 100

PayU has declined my request for an increase in compensation. Please advise how I can improve my chances of receiving a higher compensation amount. I am currently unable to file an appeal with the RBI, as the portal indicates that I must wait until the complaint is officially closed
