I see that the community's interest was not stirred. I recently found out that maxiumum characters can be 21/22 depending on VISA/MasterCard

For axis it is 19 (these days there is a mandatory space requirement between first name and last name)
ICICI - i think it is 18
HDFC - 20 works (no mandatory first name last name requirement)
SBI - 20 works
