(Solved) Is the spend criteria on IDFC First Credit Card for railway lounge access as well?

My parents are travelling by train from Sealdah station next month and they both have the add-on cards of IDFC Wealth credit card. Couple of queries:

1) Is the 5k spend criteria for access to railway lounge access as well? Or is it only for airport lounge access and can they access railway lounge access without the 5k spend this month?

2) If the spend criteria is applicable, is rent payment an eligible transaction for the same? (Have made a rental transaction on the primary card this month but that has been the only transaction. Also, I am assuming that the spend on primary card will make the add-on cards eligible for the railway lounge access, if at all the 5k spend criteria is applicable)

3) Both of them also have the AU Royale Debit cards - was wondering if these debit cards have access to railway lounge as well and if yes, is there a spend criteria for the same?

4) Does Sealdah railway lounge provide access to the above cards?

Will appreciate responses to the above. Thanks in advance.

Yes sealdah railway station lounge supports both AU as well as IDFC credit card .I have recently used my IDFC Credit card for the lounge access and there is no spend criteria for railway lounge access . They will give you complimentary Thali (veg/non veg) with coffee or tea and one water bottle. With 2 hour of stay at the lounge .

Add on cards are not allowed in any railway lounge for any bank. IMG_20231020_214649.jpg

The above banks selected cards are allowed but spend criteria is not there. I entered Sealdah lounge on 20th October with idfc Wealth and AU Zenith. Both primary cards only.

In case add on is identical, it may be allowed but as per terms and conditions, icici, AU and idfc at least mentions that entry is for primary card holder only. Ticket however is not checked at Sealdah.

Thanks for the info. AU the doubt is coz my parents have the debit card not credit card and I checked the features on the AU website, the Royale debit card does not have railway lounge access. Hopefully their IDFC Wealth add-ons will work.

This is different from all the other responses! I am assuming that 4 per quarter access is shared among primary and add-on cards for IDFC, atleast that's what I understand from the T&C. I understand you have used your primary cards for access, but have you been denied access on add-on cards? Would be good to know in advance.

You said that you read page 5 & 6 shared by D₹V and also selected that as solution, then why the confusion 👀

@Samrat / @abhishek0882 To clarify, Some cards give lounge access only to Primary cardholders, but that's not the case with the card in discussion as it clearly states

Well, banks and cards and service providers never let you be entirely sure 😡. Yes, I read page 5&6 and was relieved and marked it as a solution, and as I mentioned in response to @Samrat, as per my understanding of the T&C, add-on cards should work. However, when someone mentions personal experience, there is confusion, because i) many times T&C is changed and not updated or ii) lounges/service providers deny services even with the T&C. Esp. in case of lounges, it seems a lot at the discretion of the lounge staff. Bangalore 080 airport lounge, there's always confusion about who can enter, with either banks not updating lounge list or staff not allowing entry. So it is best to be sure, as it is about parents travelling, cannot leave it to chance. I got a feeling @Samrat may have been mistaken, when he mentioned that bank t&c mentions no entry to add-on cards, but then who knows...... However, I do feel that parents are sorted with their IDFC First add-on cards and so the solution remains.

Definitely, every child thinks that their parents should not face any kind of difficulty and I fully bow to that _/\_

Maybe.... as the card name was not shared... as I said above, some cards provide features only to primary cards and not for add-ons, but as IDFC has stated in their document that everyone can access it, you can rest assure about it.

Yup.. you should be... Lounge reception doesn't care about the type of card you hold.. they will just insert it and will let you know the charges...

its upto us to know whether the card feature is present or not.
