(Solved) Need to Cancel RBL World Safari Credit Card

So I recently applied for the World Safari credit card. During the application process I was not asked for my payslip details. I just received the card today, the limit is only 25k for a almost 4k yearly fee card which is absolutely nuts. I haven’t activated or used the card. I want to cancel the card and want to know how to go about this

According to RBI guidelines a credit card should get closed if not activated for 30 days and joining fees is not charged, don't know if RBL has implemented this. Maybe someone can share if they have tried same.

This is terrible, They can reject the app instead if going this way. Don't use the card and it would be gone

I am facing the same issue and I want to cancel this card. My card is approved but got a limit of only 27k. I want to know if you got charged?

Does some one know what will be chances of LE on this card? If need to do 1 lakh worth of international transactions per month. I am thinking if its possible to do that by doing transactions in multiple of 25k each by paying the bill immediately after each transaction.

No, that's called Overlimit spends.

Check your card issuer guidelines if they even allow over limit transactions and what is the penalty for the same.

Thanks for guidance. I am not sure about RBL rules but in the RBL app it does say that this 27k is the total amount that can be spent in a billing cycle. Thats make it really useless for me.

In SBI, there is no such issue. My over limits are disabled yet I am able to spend over 2lakhs (card limit is 117k) by doing full payments. Even on one card there is no such issue.

No idea about LE because I got this card in Mar 23. Yes definitely you can do multiple transactions.I have 71K limit and I did transactions worth 303k in Aug and I didn't get charged any over limit fee.

Thanks for letting me know. It's a pain to split transactions in 25k with this low limit, but this card has 2.33% net reward rate for international non travel spends if you achieve 7.5L milestones in first year which is doable. However from second year the card is useless.

Annual fee is 3540 and max milestone reward is 7500. Effective reward rate is 0.75% on 5L spends (nothing beyond that) which is verse then even LTF one card (0.82% with no spend limit).

Has anyone got LTF world Safari?

Yes, people who were holding Zomato card earlier (which was upgraded to shoprite) got upgraded to LTF World Safari Card after calling customer care. For some, it was done by retention team.

2 months ago I made a payment of 1 lakh from an ICICI card was charged 4K forex fee. Then I made up my mind to get this card, I applied online on card to card basis and got it approved for a fee of 3k. the limit they offered me was 2.6L which is decent I believe. I recommend you all to apply via this route rather than submitting income documents. My ICICI card had a limit of Rs 4.2L which I have now closed since most of my transactions these days are international. Also I received a 3k MMT gift card so the net annual fee is 0 for me

The reward redemption for vouchers is not working on RBL reward site and there are no annual benefits on RBL World Safari Card.

I am thinking of closing this card and getting Indus Explorer Vistara for 10K joining free and 1 free business class flight ticket. This one has also zero forex but the milestones are far better. On spending 15Lakhs per year, I can get 5 business class flight tickets which is a far better reward than RBL card. Additional benefits 3000 off on Dining out bills twice a year and BMS BOGO upto 700.

Even if I value business class ticket at 5000 (not something I would spend on), the net reward rate is best in class at 2.21%.

Edit - One issue is that taxes on business class ticket taxes are high and not included free tickets.

Update - I canceled my World Safari and got Niyo Global credit card on 5000 FD. Limit can be instantly increased by adding amount. No Forex charges or joining fee. It's the best interim solution till I get Vistara Explorer card.

The conclusion to my excel analysis is that DCB offers far better reward rate (incl Global value Program, milestone benefits, memberships) and lounge benefit on international spends (3.25% net upto 1L/ per cycle and 2.25% net post 1L and unlimited lounge) without annual fees (5L spend waiver).

For domestic spends, rewards rates with DCB can be as high as 16.65 - 33.35% on flights, bus and stays and 10% on IRCTC, regular expense (by buying amazon GV). Hence I will try to increase my income and aim to get DCB in next 3-6 months.

I will keep my SBI Vistara prime for Rent, Utility, Fuel, Insurance, Jewellery, Govt bills for 4.25% returns (assuming free PE ticket value at 4000 Rs and CV value at 0.8 RS).

This way I hope to simplify my card portfolio to just 2 cards.

In this time, it is advised not to keep all eggs in the same basket. You should have other cards. You can keep all your spends on a particular card, that's no issue; but if devaluations happen, which they always do, do have a backup option available.

Its good advice.

RBL retention team waived off the joining fee, and promised review of the limit. I am thinking of keeping the card for next few months and use it as much as I can on International spends.

After reading about account freeze issue with Niyo card, I don't feel safe preloading the card for large international transactions. RBL seems like the best option till I get DCB / Indus Explorer card.
